  • Publication number: 20070207376
Abstract: A microporous battery separator is provided having a first co-extruded multilayered portion and a second co-extruded multilayered portion. The two portions are bonded together. In a preferred embodiment, the battery separator has two substantially identical multilayered portions bonded together face-to-face. Each of the two multilayered portions has at least one strength layer and at least one shutdown layer. Methods for making the battery separators are also provided. Preferably, a tubular multilayered film is extruded, and collapsed onto itself to form a multilayered battery separator precursor. The precursor is then bonded and annealed before it is stretched to form a microporous multilayer battery separator.

  • Publication number: 20070105019
Abstract: A battery separator is a microporous membrane. The membrane has a major volume of a thermoplastic polymer and a minor volume of an inert particulate filler. The filler is dispersed throughout the polymer. The membrane exhibits a maximum Z-direction compression of 95% of the original membrane thickness. Alternatively, the battery separator is a microporous membrane having a TMA compression curve with a first substantially horizontal slope between ambient temperature and 125° C., a second substantially horizontal slope at greater than 225° C. The curve of the first slope has a lower % compression than the curve of the second slope. The curve of the second slope is not less than 5% compression. The TMA compression curve is graphed so that the Y-axis represents % compression from original thickness and the X-axis represents temperature.

In a more particular embodiment, a method for scheduling jobs in a computer system include storing a plurality of job queue files in a random access memory. The plurality of job queue files include information associated with at least one job. The method also includes storing the information external to the random access memory and accessing at least one of the job queue files stored in the random access memory. The method also includes scheduling, based at least in part on the at least one job queue file, execution of a job associated with at least one job queue file.

  • Publication number: 20050266069
Abstract: The invention relates to viable and stable probiotic formulations for intestinal targeting made of microspheres comprising each a core of one or more probiotic bacteria, microcrystallline cellulose with a degree of polymerization from 165-365 and mean diameter from 45 to 180 ?m, a disintegrant and a stabilizer, the core being coated with a non-enteric coating and further coated with an enteric coating. Each probiotic microsphere has a residual moisture level of less than 5% and a water activity (aw) between 0.1 and 0.5. Such a probiotic microsphere shows no reduction in viable bacteria after one hour in simulated gastric fluid. The present invention also relates to the process of preparing such formulation.

  • Publication number: 20050252493
Abstract: In order to fully understand how the Fuel Stop Safety Switch functions, it is essential for a general understanding of the normal function of the fuel injection system. We start with the driver pressing the accelerator pedal, this sends a command through it's throttle positioning sensor to the electronic control unit, which receives signals from various sensors and uses this data to determine the fuel needed to maintain efficient and normal operation of the vehicle. When the brake is applied it will activate the Fuel Stop Safety Switch, which will send a signal to the electronic control unit which will return the engine to the idle position, and will remain at idle position as long as the brake pedal is depressed. This will enable the driver to bring the automobile to a stop regardless of the drivers negligence in not removing his or her foot from the accelerator. This can be achieved in one of two ways, one is to install a Fuel Stop Safety Switch.

  • Publication number: 20050202163
Abstract: A method of making a composite microporous membrane includes the steps of: coating a nonporous precursor film with a polymer composition, and then stretching the coated nonporous precursor. Stretching includes a first stretching conducted at a first temperature and a first stretching rate and a second stretching conducted at a second temperature and a second stretching rate. The first stretching rate and the second stretching rate are different.

  • Publication number: 20050031941
Abstract: A battery separator for a lithium-ion secondary battery is a microporbus membrane with an adjuvant. The microporous membrane is made of a thermoplastic, and has a thickness of 25 ?m or less. The adjuvant, in an effective amount, is mixed into the membrane or coated thereon. The adjuvant is a material adapted to reduce or eliminate energy concentrations around the separator. The energy concentration is sufficient to initiate a reaction of the components of the lithium ion secondary battery.

  • Publication number: 20030004389
Abstract: A stable treatment process for a radioactive material (100) includes combining a sufficient minority ratio of said material (100) and a sufficient quantity ratio of a suitable moderator material (102) within a sufficient majority ratio mass of suitable benign radioactive poison metals (104). The benign radioactive poison metals (104) shall include a minimum of one benign radioactive poison metal Lead. Said radioactive material (100), moderator (102) and benign radioactive poison metal (104) being sufficiently combined results in unstable combined mass (105). Said mass (105) consisting of constituents (100,102,104) is impacted by suitable means producing sufficient force (63) from impact upon mass (105) to render (64) sufficient high-pressure four dimensional complete inelastic collisions amongst the constituents (100,102,104) within combined mass (105).

  • Patent number: 6015330
Abstract: A hopping model car includes a body, a pair of vertically adjustable rear wheels mounted near the rear of the body, a pair of vertically movable front wheels mounted near the front of the body, and an actuator connected to the front wheels. The car is balanced to have a center of gravity slightly in front of a rear axle. To use, the rear wheels are adjusted downwardly to raise the rear end of the car. The front wheels are quickly extended downwardly to propel the front end of the car into the air. The car is balanced for hopping with less power consumption and a less powerful actuator, and for causing the front end to fall realistically slowly.

  • Patent number: 5950399
Abstract: An apparatus for inserting a folded product into an envelope and closing the flap of the envelope performs a method in which the envelope is transferred from an envelope hopper by a rotatable shuttle unit having cooperating suction cups and a T-shaped flap engagement member, the folded product is stuffed into its envelope, and then flap of the envelope is closed by an envelope closing device. The envelope inserting and closing apparatus and method are designed for use in a high speed electronic finishing system.

  • Patent number: 5722872
Abstract: A radio controlled scale model of a low rider vehicle including a chassis and first and second axels supported on the chassis, a lift assembly includes the chassis being provided with guide structure for maintaining the transverse orientation of the front axle while allowing movement of the axle relative to the chassis within a plane perpendicular to the central longitudinal axis of the chassis. The lifting action is accomplished by a solenoid whose push rod presses on a pivotable "L" shaped lever arm which in turn presses on the front axle causing the chassis and attached vehicle body to rise when activated and fall when released simulating a low rider "hop". The power supply located in the trunk portion of the vehicle acts as a counter balance so that the front wheels lift easily.
