  • Publication number: 20130175235
Abstract: A system includes a container and an adapter. The container may include a wall defining a receptacle and a neck, the neck forming an opening and a passage in fluid communication between the receptacle and the opening; a closure assembly having a portion disposed within the neck, and including an insert defining a valve seat, an actuator, a valve member attached to the actuator and sealingly engageable with the valve seat, and a biasing member disposed between the insert and the actuator. The biasing member urges the valve member into sealing engagement with the valve seat in an actuator advanced state, and the valve member disengages from the valve seat in an actuator retracted state, the actuator depending through the opening in the advanced state. The adapter may be removably attached to the container, and configured to move the actuator from advanced to retracted state upon attachment.

  • Patent number: 8464527
Abstract: A float structure for a WEC is designed to have a tapered underside to reduce the impact due to wave slam and bending moments while providing little reduction in the surface area responding to the wave surface in order to maintain the beneficial power generating capability of a “flat” float. The underside of the float presents an inverted wedge section to decrease loads associated with wave slamming. The float may have a generally toroidal or elliptical configuration at and about the “still” water line with the generally submerged underside of the float having a cross section shaped to have one or more inverted triangular sections extending between the outer perimeter of the float and its center to reduce impact loading due to wave slamming while maintaining power producing capability.

  • Patent number: 8448423
Abstract: Operation of a spark ignition, direct injection engine having an aftertreatment system including an oxidation catalyst and a selective catalyst reduction device is described. The method includes controlling to a stoichiometric air/fuel ratio and retarding spark ignition timing. Engine fueling is then controlled to a lean air/fuel ratio and spark is retarded. The engine is then operated to generate ammonia reductant. Engine operation then comprises operating at a preferred air/fuel ratio and controlling spark ignition timing to a preferred timing.

  • Patent number: 8424805
Abstract: An airfoil structure including a plurality of molded monolithic members that extend in a side-by-side manner along the spanwise direction of the airfoil structure. Each molded monolithic member is realized from continuous material that is molded to form a corrugated portion with top and bottom flange portions extending from the corrugated portion. As a result of the molding operation, the corrugated portion is integrally formed with and structurally joined to the top and bottom flange portions. The top flange portions of the side-by-side arrangement of molded monolithic members define a portion of the top surface of the airfoil structure. The bottom flange portions of the side-by-side arrangement of molded monolithic members define a portion of the bottom surface of the airfoil section. The corrugated portions of the side-by-side arrangement of monolithic members define internal support structures (preferably closed-cell cores) extending along the spanwise direction of the airfoil structure.

  • Publication number: 20120087235
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring connectivity in a network at a bearer path layer are disclosed. For example, the method receives a request to monitor a user endpoint, identifies an internet protocol address of the user endpoint, an internet protocol address of each transport network element between the user endpoint and a bearer trace server, a bearer path identification of each bearer used by the user endpoint, a quality of service associated with each bearer used by the user endpoint, and a tunnel identification of each bearer used by the user endpoint; and performs a fault isolation and performance monitoring at a bearer path layer, wherein the fault isolation identifies a particular segment where a fault is detected at the bearer path layer.

  • Publication number: 20120026871
Abstract: A particular method includes measuring port usage data related to each of a plurality of physical ports associated with a link aggregation group. A bandwidth requirement of a requested media stream is estimated and added to a traffic load at each of the plurality of physical ports to produce an estimated total traffic load of each of the plurality of physical ports. When the requested media stream includes non-video data, the requested media stream is sent to a destination device via a physical port that selected in accordance with a static bandwidth allocation. When the requested media stream includes video data, the requested media stream is sent to the destination device via a least loaded physical port that is dynamically identified based on the estimated traffic loads of each of the plurality of physical ports.

  • Publication number: 20100160889
Abstract: A spike assembly having an elongate spike defining a hollow cannula that is in fluid communication with the interior of a luer connection portion. The spike assembly provides needleless access to a stopper of a vial to facilitate injection and withdrawal of fluids via a syringe barrel selectively secured to the luer connection portion. The syringe can safely be removed from the spike assembly and then be directly attached to a luer compatible connector. The elongate spike may include a frangible tip portion that can break away from the spike assembly within a vial. The spike assembly may have a neck with a pair of gripping wing members. The spike assembly may have a feature that prevents rotation of the spike in the vial stopper, thereby allowing the syringe to be easily and safely disconnected from the spike assembly without having to grasp the spike assembly.
