  • Patent number: 12166341
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing detailed information about high load events in a circuit interrupter are disclosed. The systems and methods provide a user with information such as the maximum high load current reached during a high load event and the average high load current calculated for the duration of the event. In addition, detailed waveform and metered data captures are generated in order to provide a comprehensive cycle-level and/or sub-cycle level overview of the event.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 29, 2021
Date of Patent: December 10, 2024
    Assignee: EATON INTELLIGENT POWER LIMITED
Inventors: Daniel A. Hosko, James L Lagree, Donald T. McComas
  • Publication number: 20230420983
Abstract: A method of power quality monitoring includes: capturing a power quality event; determining that the captured power quality event is one of a voltage sag, a swell or an interruption; in response to determining the captured power quality event is one of the voltage sag, the swell or the interruption, selecting a pre-event interval and a post-event interval; comparing a pre-event load level and a post-event load level; and detecting a load loss based on a result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 11817693
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing information about thermal overload conditions and near-miss tripping events in a circuit interrupter are disclosed. The systems and methods provide a user with detailed information about thermal overload and near-miss tripping events, including how much time remains until a trip will be initiated due to a thermal overload, and what the real-time thermal capacity of the circuit interrupter is after a thermal overload condition ends.

  • Patent number: 5831428
Abstract: A metering unit, located in a distributed power network carrying a power-related waveform, comprises a sensor, a generator, and a memory. The sensor senses power-related parameters associated with the power-related waveform. In response to the sensor, the generator generates and transmits data representative of the power-related waveform. The memory is a sector-erasable flash EEPROM having stored therein programmable logic and main functionality firmware for execution by the generator. The logic is programmable by a user and executable by the generator to increase operations performed by the metering unit.
