  • Patent number: 6793268
Abstract: The invention provides a door assembly for a motor vehicle. The motor vehicle includes a body portion including at least one aperture formed therein. The door assembly includes a door moveable between a closed position substantially covering the aperture and an open position substantially clearing the aperture. At least one hinge assembly is provided including a substantially elongated lever with first and second pivots. The first pivot is operably attached to the door and the second pivot is operably attached to the vehicle. The lever and the first and second pivots provide an arcuate path movement of the door lengthwise of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040058074
Abstract: A method for improving the specularity of a surface comprises steps for (a) spraying a wax material suspended in a carrier or solvent onto the surface; and (b) drawing a lip of a wiper blade across the surface, wiping away the carrier or solvent and leaving the wax material in pores and crevices of the surface.

  • Patent number: 5704707
Abstract: A helmet-mounted wireless frequency-modulated infrared beam-actuated auxiliary brakelight system capable of reliable operation in all ranges of ambient light while permitting the rider to turn his head from side to side over a large angle approaching 180 degrees or more. The system comprises a frequency-modulated infrared transmitter, in operative combination with a switch for detecting brake system actuation, and a helmet module, including a frequency-modulated infrared receiver and decoder in operative combination with a stop light. Brake system initiation results in switch actuation which causes the transmitter to emit a beam of frequency-modulated infrared energy towards the helmet module. When the beam is received at the helmet module, it is captured using a lens in operative combination with a novel lightpipe which ensures reception over a 180 degree angle.

  • Patent number: 4852935
Abstract: The invention is a backlight assembly which attaches to the roof section to form a convertible top of a vehicle when the roof and the assembly are both in the raised positions. The backlight assembly and the roof section have independent linkage mechanisms which allow each to be positioned independent of the other. The predetermined path of the backlight panel as defined by the linkage mechanism and the guideframe combines both rotational and sliding movements. This is accomplished by initially radically rotating the panel in a counterclockwise manner and then moving the panel along a substantially horizontal plane. When the backlight panel reaches the extreme rearward portion of the guidetracks, the panel is situated in a substantially horizontal position beneath the rear decklid.
