  • Patent number: 6314608
Abstract: A wiper blade for a windshield wiper blade refill includes a crown located at the top of the wiper blade. The bottom of the wiper blade has a windshield-engaging lip. A neck extends from the crown toward the lip, and the neck increases in width in a direction away from the crown.

  • Patent number: 5044042
Abstract: An improved windshield wiper blade of the type having two rubber elements forming parallel wiping edges. The elements are mounted in a rigid flexor which extends the length of the blade. Each element includes a hinge which permits the portion of the element including the wiping edge to flip over when the wiping direction is reversed. Each element further includes bumpers above and below the hinge only on the side mounted to face the other element. As the wiper blade is moved, the bumpers on only the leading element abut to establish the angle of the leading wiping edge relative to the windshield. The exposed side of each element is smooth and the bumpers are enclosed to prevent buildup of ice, snow or mud on the wiper blade.

  • Patent number: 4793020
Abstract: According to the invention, a resilient element is disposed between interconnected elements on a windshield wiper blade assembly such as cooperating primary and secondary yokes and a wiper blade element. Preferably the resilient element is a tape with a pressure sensitive adhesive backing or a coating that can be sprayed or painted on. The invention also comprehends a method of forming the windshield wiping elements by applying the tape or coating to stock material before the individual elements are stamped and formed.

  • Patent number: 4264998
Abstract: In a wiper assembly (10) for a windshield, a window, a headlight, or the like, including a flexor (20) for a resilient wiping element (21) having laterally extending tabs (45,46) and lateral indents (55,56) defined on the flexor by the lateral edges (33,34) thereof. A plurality of such flexors are cut from a sheet of material without substantial waste by orienting the flexors to be cut in abutting side-by-side relationship such that the tabs of one flexor are cut from laterally aligned indents of an adjacent flexor on the sheet. The pair of tabs (45,46) have axially spaced external shoulders (49,52) located near one end (30) of the flexor with one shoulder on each lateral side of the flexor and the pair of indents (55,56) have axially spaced internal shoulders (59,62) located near the other end (31) one on each lateral side of the flexor such that adjacent flexors are oriented 180.degree. relative to each other when they are to be cut apart from the sheet.

  • Patent number: 4050832
Abstract: The invention relates to a wiper arm assembly having a mounting head with a socket adapted to receive a drive burr of an oscillatable pivot shaft, an arm pivotally connected to the mounting head and spring means connected between the mounting head and the arm so as to press the arm toward a windshield. A latch is provided on the mounting head which, in one position, will render the spring inoperative and will remove a retaining member from alignment with the socket so that the mounting head may be assembled on the drive burr or the mounting head may be removed from said drive burr. After the mounting head is pressed on the drive burr, the latch is moved to a second position that will release the spring means so that the spring means can exert pressure on a wiper blade attached to the outer end of the arm.
