  • Patent number: 4406253
Abstract: An animal bite valve for dispensing water on demand which is formed with a lever operated by the animal. The valve is opened by either pushing the valve inwardly longitudinally or by tilting. The lever is formed with an annular non-flexible flange which bears against a non-flexible annular land as a fulcrum. Sealing is effected by a flexible cup seal which rests upon a valve seat and is lifted therefrom by the tilting of the valve member.A spring retainer member mounted on the lever downstream of the valve seat is formed with a slotted disc which disrupts the stream flow and deflects the flow outwardly toward the inside wall of the housing, which function serves to restrict, limit, and control the flow discharge velocity.A baffle inserted in the downstream flow portion of the housing, formed with a plurality of pockets causes further water turbulence and further reduction in fluid flow velocity and directs the water into the mouth of the animal.

Sealing is effected by a flexible cup seal which rests upon a valve seat and is lifted therefrom by the tilting of the valve member.A baffle inserted in the downstream flow portion of the housing, directs the water into the mouth of the animal. Curved portions in the baffle cause a portion of the water to swirl, create turbulence and reduce velocity.

  • Patent number: 4269147
Abstract: An animal watering system with automatic protection from electrical power failure, over heating, water supply failure, or restriction and air build-up in the system consisting briefly of a closed loop recirculating water system buried beneath the frost line, a water pump recirculating the water, an electrical heater in the recirculation system, an air storage tank, an air supply line connecting the air storage tank with the recirculating water supply line, a normally closed valve in the air line connecting the air storage tank and the circulating water line, a normally closed drain valve in the recirculating water line, a normally open valve in the line supplying water to the recirculating distribution line and a control circuit for closing the supply valve and opening the drain valve and the air valve in the event of electrical power failure. The system may also include an air vent for automatically purging air from the system so that the water pump may operate efficiently.

  • Patent number: 4258664
Abstract: An improved valve device for self-service watering of animals which delivers water through a pivotal, control member which includes a flared housing permitting greater movement of the control member and results in improved trouble free operation.

  • Patent number: 4215649
Abstract: An isolation habitat for shipping, storing and displaying live baby turtles consisting of a bell shaped turtle chamber, a filter chamber communicating with the turtle chamber for receiving a microporous filter for air exchange and bacterial exclusion, a cap covering the filter chamber formed with perforations for air exchange and providing a positive clamp action to retain and protect the filter member, and a floor affixed to the bell shaped turtle chamber having traction means for permitting the turtle to right itself upon inversion. A separate literature and accessory chamber is snapped to the underside of the floor. In another form of the invention, absorbent shock proof material surrounds the turtle adjacent the floor of the bell chamber.

  • Patent number: 4184450
Abstract: A device for holding a hard, molded food item for caged small animals, constructed from sheet metal, including a holder portion formed with a plurality of openings for providing access to the food and a hanger member connected to the holder and provided with means for attachment to a cage. The holder is formed with a top loading opening. The hanger is formed with means for supporting and holding the ends of the holder together.
