  • Patent number: 8265784
Abstract: A library has a physical cartridge access port (PCAP) for receiving cartridges which are to be entered/ejected into/out of the library. The library is partitioned into partitions each having a set of the library cells such that the library appears to a host as multiple libraries with each partition appearing to the host as a respective one of the multiple libraries. Some cells are reserved for use by the partitions as virtual cartridge access ports (VCAPs) which appear to the host as being the PCAP such that cartridges, which are to be ejected out of the partitions, are exported from the cells of the partitions to the VCAPs for subsequent transfer from the VCAPs to the PCAP, and such that cartridges, which are to be entered into the partitions, are imported from the VCAPs to the cells of the partitions after having been moved from the PCAP to the VCAPs.

  • Patent number: 6206773
Abstract: An apparatus for industrial tenderization of meat by the use of an explosive creating shock waves in water in a processor tank (300) which the meat is immersed. The processor tank includes an upper opening (313). A turntable or carousel (10) rotates to bring over the upper opening: an access hole (13) for loading and unloading the meat; a blast shield (100) to contain the explosion; and a water changer (200) for removing tainted water and adding fresh water. The water changer includes an upper cistern (250), fed by a water supply line (273), and a lower hollow basin (230). When the water changer is lowered into the processing tank by pneumatic cylinder (270), tainted water in flows through basin valves (233). Then the basin valves are closed, the water changer is lifted up, and the water is drained at another position. Before the water changer is raised, the processor tank is refilled with water stored in the cistern.

  • Patent number: 6146262
Abstract: An apparatus for containing the energy of a shock wave and a reaction pulse from an explosion used for tenderizing meat has an inner tank (50) for holding the meat and a watertight outer tank (100) within which the inner tank is held optionally immersed in water, and into which the inner tank can rebound downward from the force of the explosion. The outer tank includes an inner surface dissimilar in shape to the outer surface of the inner tank; this breaks up the initial shock wave. An air space at least partially surrounding the outer tank helps to contain the shock wave. The water, the inner tank, and outer tank act as an hydraulic damper or dash pot to cushion the force of the slower reaction pulse, which follows the shock pulse and pushes the inner tank downward.

  • Patent number: 5841056
Abstract: An explosive blast shield has two connected parts, a foraminous inner shield surrounded by an impervious outer shield. The inner shield has an open lower end to absorb an explosive blast of water and gas, as from an underwater explosion. The inner shield, whose area is about 20% holes, blocks most liquid from entering the space between the two shields, but gas passes readily through the holes to equalize the pressure across the inner shield. The shield may include a chimney at the upper end for release of gas and a hold-down to prevent the shield from being blown upward.
