  • Publication number: 20150177020
Abstract: Method and apparatus of integrating a three-axis magnetometer and a three-axis accelerometer to provide attitude and heading, calibrated magnetometer and accelerometer data, and angular rate, while removing sensor error sources over time and temperature and to compensate for hard and soft iron distortions of the Earth magnetic field. Filtered accelerometer data are corrected to account for various error sources. The magnetic heading is calculated from a horizontal magnetic field vector transformed from three dimensional Earth's magnetic field vector by using quasi-static roll and pitch angles from the filtered accelerometer data. A first Kalman filter estimates the state vector, based on the principle that the magnitude of local Earth's magnetic field vector is constant, to form hard and soft iron correction matrices.

  • Patent number: 8718963
Abstract: An integrated calibration system and process for a three-axis (X, Y, Z) accelerometer estimates Z-axis bias, Z-axis bias drift and determines X, Y, and Z-axes error sources based on measurements taken when the accelerometer is static, i.e., sensing only the earth's gravitational acceleration. Optimal on-the-fly error estimates for the three-axis accelerometer are obtained so that the measurements provided by the three-axis accelerometer remain error-free.

  • Publication number: 20130341280
Abstract: A deep purification method for removing trace thallium in water by using polymer-based nanosized manganese oxide is disclosed. This method comprising the following steps: adjusting the pH value of the water polluted with trace thallium to 5-8.5 and filtering it, then channeling the water so treated through a packed tower of filtering bed packed with polymer-based nanosized manganese oxide so that the thallium in water can be selectively adsorbed upon the nanocomposite material, stopping the adsorption process when the thallium in water reaches the leak point, and then using mixed solution of HCl—Ca(NO3)2 or NaOH—NaClO as the desorption agent and starting desorption and regeneration process for the packing material of polymer-based nanosized manganese oxide. This effectively reduces the concentration of thallium in water from 0.01-0.5 mg/L to lower than 0.1 ?g/L, despite the much higher concentration of coexisting competitive cations such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+ and Si(IV).
