  • Patent number: 6618568
Abstract: An image fusing unit of a liquid electrophotographic unit for fusing an image developed by a developer which is a mixture of toner particles and liquid solvent and transferred onto a sheet of paper includes a charging portion installed on a transfer path of the paper for applying electric potential in a direction in which the toner is in close contact with the paper, a drying portion for drying the image by directly contacting and heating the paper, and a fusing portion for fixing the image to the paper by heating and pressing the paper. Thus, the efficiency of heat can be improved by drying in the direct contact method. Also, by closely pressing the toner against the paper prior to drying, the disadvantage according to the contact type drying method, that is, the toner adheres to a contact member, can be solved.

  • Patent number: 6442363
Abstract: In a printing apparatus including a drying roller for absorbing a liquid carrier remaining on a photosensitive medium, a transfer roller for transferring an image on the photosensitive medium to a recording paper sheet, and a carrier supply unit for supplying liquid carrier to the drying roller, the transfer roller, and the photosensitive medium, a printing operation is carried out such that the carrier is supplied to the drying roller, the transfer roller, and the photosensitive medium to wet them so that carrier absorption and discharge between the transfer roller, the drying roller, and the photosensitive medium can reach equilibrium states.

  • Patent number: 6295430
Abstract: A drying unit coupling apparatus of a liquid electrophotographic printer in which the engagement of a driving gear installed at a main frame, and a driven gear installed at a cam shaft, are prevented from disengaging when an auxiliary frame supporting the cam shaft is coupled to the main frame. The driven gear is engaged with the driving gear when the auxiliary frame and the main frame are coupled. The apparatus includes a main frame where a driving roller supports a circulating photoreceptor medium, a driving gear installed at the main frame, an auxiliary frame which is slidably installed at the main frame, a cam shaft supported at the auxiliary frame, a drying unit, a driven gear installed at the cam shaft, a cam member installed at the cam shaft, and a position fixing mechanism which fixes the position of the cam shaft when the driving gear and the driven gear are engaged, preventing the driving gear and the driven gear from deviating from each other.

  • Patent number: 5718522
Abstract: A thermal transfer printer having an improved structure to transport a recording paper and an ink ribbon by a capstan motor is provided. The printer includes a rotating shaft installed between frames, and in parallel with a capstan roller. A clutch mechanism is provided and includes an inner wheel member provided with a bushing and a cylindrical disk radially extended from one edge of the bushing. The inner wheel member is coupled to an end portion of the rotating shaft, and an outer wheel member is rotatably combined with the outer circumferential surface of the bushing of the inner wheel member and frictionally rotated against the capstan roller, such that when the capstan roller is rotated in one direction, both the inner and outer wheel members are rotated, while when the capstan roller is rotated in the reverse direction, only the outer wheel member is rotated. A take-up reel is coupled to the rotating shaft, for winding one end of the ink ribbon.

  • Patent number: 5550572
Abstract: A color video printer for printing onto both sides of a printing paper includes several guide rollers positioned on the circumference of a platen roller and an ink ribbon supplying unit. A thermal recording head is selectively contacted with or separated from the platen roller by the operation of a cam, and a slider is operated by the cam. In the slider, cam grooves are formed so as to operate a paper ejecting guide and a re-feed paper roller by its reciprocating motion.
