Abstract: A method and apparatus for efficiently retransmitting data in a wireless network environment are provided. The method includes transmitting a block comprising one or more data frames to a terminal, receiving an acknowledgement of receipt of the block from the terminal, and retransmitting a block comprising data frames that have not yet been received by the terminal to the terminal by referencing the acknowledgement of receipt. Accordingly, it is possible to enhance overall throughput by reducing receipt acknowledgement time during a data retransmission operation.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a data frame in a communication network, such as a wireless local area network (WLAN), a power line communication (PLC) network, or the like. A transmitter forms one expansion frame using more than one frame, transmits more than one generated expansion frame to a receiver, requests a block acknowledgement (ACK) frame for the transmitted expansion frames, and, after receiving the block ACK frame, re-transmits an expansion frame having an error by changing a transmission parameter.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for transmitting data and an apparatus and method for receiving data, in which the transmission of uncompressed data over a wireless network can be performed by retransmitting an erroneous bit or a group of erroneous bits, if any, of each sub-packet including a number of bits or a number of groups of bits having different significance levels. The apparatus for transmitting data includes an error detection module which determines whether each of a plurality of portions of a transmitted packet having different significance levels is erroneous based on a received response packet; a data-packet generation module which generates a retransmission packet including one or more erroneous portions of the transmitted packet according to the results of the determination performed by the error detection module; and a communication module which transmits the retransmission packet through a communication channel.

Abstract: Provided is a method of processing and transmitting transport stream packets and processing the transmitted transport stream packets. A time stamp is generated in a medium access control (MAC) layer based on time information managed by the MAC layer, and a data frame including the transport stream packets is retransmitted based on an algorithm different from that used for a general data frame when a transmission error occurs. Therefore, there is no need to transmit and receive additional synchronization packets in order to precisely transmit the transport stream packets between transmitting and receiving terminals, and it is possible to reduce performance deterioration caused by latency and jitter.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of enhancing a block Ack in a WLAN is disclosed. The apparatus includes a frame verification module receiving a plurality of data frames and selecting erroneous frames, a sequence control mapping module mapping sequence numbers of the selected frames with spoofing numbers, and a frame combining module combining the mapped frames with other sequence frames and transmitting the combined frames. The data frames include spoofing sequence control frames with which the spoofing sequence numbers are mapped.
