    Abstract: Novel photochromic diarylethenes substituted with an isoxazole group and the method of preparation are disclosed. Also disclosed are compositions made with the photochromic diarylethenes. The preparation of thin films with the photochromic diarylethenes or compositions thereof are disclosed.
