  • Patent number: 7961620
Abstract: Provided are a network scheduler and a network scheduling method capable of effectively managing network bandwidths by selectively supporting a work conserving mode to network entities by using an improved token bucket scheme. The network scheduler selectively supports a work conserving mode to network scheduling units (NSUs) serving as network entities by using a token bucket scheme, such that the network scheduler ensures an allocated network bandwidth or enables the NSUs to use a remaining bandwidth. The network scheduler manages the NSUs by classifying the NSUs into a green state, a red state, a yellow state, and a black state according to a token value, a selection/non-selection of the work conserving mode, and an existence/non-existence of the packet request to be processed.

  • Patent number: 7197598
Abstract: A file level striping method adds an option for indicating whether or not to support file level striping to a file creation interface in a file system, extends an inode structure to include a last disk ID field, initializes the last disk ID when the file is created in the file system, allocates a physical block based on the last disk ID when the physical block allocation is requested at the time of file I/O request in the file system, and modifies the last disk ID value to reflect the physical block allocation made by a volume manager. An apparatus using the file level striping method includes a number of disks for storing information actually, the volume manager for logically grouping a number of disks and a file system for creating files on said logical volume and performing I/O operations.

  • Patent number: 7085899
Abstract: An efficient snapshot technique based on a mapping for a large logical volume shared in multiple hosts. According to the present invention, problems of time delays in a conventional snapshot technique is solved by employing a FAB and an SSB, which are bits representing whether a COW operation is carried out to a mapping entry. In other words, the present invention solves the problems of delaying a write operation of corresponding volume, which is simultaneously executed when a snapshot is created, until the snapshot creation is completed.

  • Publication number: 20040078519
Abstract: There is provided a method for reorganizing data in a RAID system using a striping technique. First, it is determined whether an additional disk exists in a storage medium in the system. Then, it is checked whether a data is stored at a reorganization-requested location for a disk write operation reorganization-requested data to the reorganization request location if there exists the additional disk. Thereafter, a if no data is stored in the reorganization-requested location.

  • Publication number: 20030163757
Abstract: A RAID subsystem to distributively store data in a disk array having a plurality of disk drives and performing an I/O of the data in parallel is provided. A sparing disk drive stores a recovery image in which recovery information on a block of an error disk drive is recorded. A disk array controller retrieves the recovery information recorded in the recovery image according to a data input/output request of a host computer to check whether the block of the error disk drive is recovered or not. The regenerated block in the block of the sparing disk drive is recorded according to the check result on the block. The recovery information on the regenerated block is recorded in the recovery image.
