  • Publication number: 20060153449
Abstract: A block-based parallel image thinning method segments an input image into blocks, determines the block flag of each of the segmented blocks, and determines a preservation condition of an object pixel of a corresponding block. Then, the method determines a removal condition of the object pixel for which the preservation condition has been determined, removes the value of the object pixel satisfying the removal condition and sets the block flag. When all the blocks have been thinned, the method thins the processed image into one-pixel thickness using a post processing condition. Related systems and computer program products also are provided.

  • Publication number: 20060147096
Abstract: A fingerprint region segmenting apparatus and methods thereof The fingerprint region segmenting apparatus may include at least one directional filter receiving an input fingerprint image and filtering the input fingerprint image to generate at least one directional image, a normalization unit normalizing the at least one directional image and a region classification unit dividing the normalized at least one directional image into a plurality of blocks and classifying each of the plurality of blocks. In an example, the classification for each of the plurality of blocks may be one of a foreground of the input fingerprint image and a background of the input fingerprint image. In an example method, a fingerprint may be segmented by segmenting a fingerprint image into a plurality of regions based on a plurality of directional images, each of the plurality of directional images associated with a different angular direction.

  • Publication number: 20060008129
Abstract: For performing a fingerprint security function in an electronic device having a camera unit, a focus of a lens in the camera unit is adjusted to a first focus level when a control signal set indicates a normal photograph mode. Alternatively, the focus of the lens in the camera unit is adjusted to a second focus level different from the first focus level when the control signal set indicates a fingerprint photograph mode. Thus, existing components of the built-in camera are used to minimize cost and time for production of the electronic device that performs the fingerprint security function.

  • Patent number: 5857828
Abstract: A process for automatically controlling power excavators is disclosed. In the process, the motions of the working members in accordance with lever handling motions of an operator are stored in a controller and reproduced to approximately conduct the operation. The operational errors of the reproduced motions of the working members are corrected and compensated in accordance with newly inputted lever handling motions of the operator while approximately conducting the operation, thereby accomplishing the desired operation. The process optimally controls the excavators regardless of working conditions, thereby improving the operational precision of the excavators. The above process does not need to use any sensors.

  • Patent number: 5794369
Abstract: A device and process for controlling the automatic operations of a power excavator are disclosed. The device has a plurality of sensors for sensing the motions of the excavator's moving parts. The device also has a controller with discriminating means. The discriminating means operates the sensed data of the sensors and discriminates the automatic operation to be performed. The controller outputs the control signals to the excavator's moving parts for automatically performed the automatic operation. The control device further includes recognizable signal output means for converting the discriminated results into recognizable signals prior to outputting the discriminated results, and confirmation signal input means for confirming the discriminated results outputted from the recognizable signal output means.

  • Patent number: 5631183
Abstract: A semiconductor memory device with a memory array of cells formed as a matrix has bit lines, and word lines driven by word line drivers, where each of the word line drivers simultaneously selects and drives at least two word lines in order to minimize line resistances of the word lines, thereby minimizing a delay time and improving a speed of sensing a cell data. Accordingly a number of the word line drivers is at least one-half a number of the word lines.

  • Patent number: 5381376
Abstract: A video RAM having a random access memory, a serial access memory, and a block selector for high speed data processing is disclosed. A serial write transfer operation for transferring data stored in the serial access memory to the random access memory is performed by writing the serial write data on all serial access memory blocks and then transmitting, the serial write data selectively to the desired blocks of the random access memory.

  • Patent number: 5367489
Abstract: A high density semiconductor device is provided with an improved voltage pumping (bootstrapping) circuit. The voltage pumping circuit generates at an initial power-up state a first output voltage which is substantially identical to the memory device source supply voltage. The pumping circuit then pumps the first output voltage up to a second output voltage which is higher than the first output voltage. The pumping operation is achieved prior to or upon the semiconductor memory device being enabled in response to a series of pulses output from an oscillator.
