Abstract: A slide type mobile terminal and a method for preventing unintended operation of the same are disclosed. When an event is generated, indicating movement of the assemblies of the mobile terminal with respect to each other, a determination is made whether the movement is detected within a preset time after generation of at least one of a touch down event and a touch up event, and ignores those events determined to be within the preset time by not delivering the touch events to a related application program.

Abstract: A passage alert system and method using a Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology are provided. The method and system are capable of alerting when a mobile terminal having an RFID tag passes the entrance at which an RFID reader is installed, whereby the owner is therefore aware of the mobile terminal. In the passage alert method of the present invention, when the first communication terminal passes an entrance at which the second communication terminal is installed, one of the first and second communication terminals resets the passage mode of the first communication terminal with an output of an alert message corresponding to the changed passage mode such that the owner may be aware of the first communication terminal, thereby reducing the possibility of losing the first mobile communication terminal.

The driving section provides the LCD section with a compensated gradation datum based on a first gradation datum of an (n)-th frame, a second gradation datum of an (n+1)-th frame and a third gradation datum of an (n?1)-th frame. The driving section provides the LCD section with a sum total of a pre-tilt value that is varied in accordance with the gradation and the first gradation datum when the gradation of the second gradation datum is higher than that of the first gradation datum. The driving section provides the LCD section with the first gradation datum when a gradation of the second gradation datum is lower than that of the first gradation datum.

Abstract: A method of controlling a portable terminal using an external memory, wherein a portable terminal is turned on upon insertion of an external memory while in a power off state. A pre-registered ID associated with the external memory is detected or a password is requested upon power-on. Upon detection of the ID in the external memory or correct entry of the password, the portable terminal is booted.

Abstract: A memory indication apparatus and method in a portable terminal is provided. Upon insertion of a memory, a user is notified of the insertion of the memory, and upon ejection of the memory, the user is notified of the ejection of the memory. A user is also notified of an authorization result.
