    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to novel activation functions which enable improved reproducibility and accuracy tradeoffs in neural networks. In particular, the present disclosure provides a family of activation functions that, on one hand, are smooth with continuous gradient and optionally monotonic but, on the other hand, also mimic the mathematical behavior of a Rectified Linear Unit (ReLU). As examples, the activation functions described herein include a smooth rectified linear unit function and also a leaky version of such function. In various implementations, the proposed functions can provide both a complete stop region and a constant positive gradient (e.g., that can be 1) pass region like a ReLU, thereby matching accuracy performance of a ReLU. Additional implementations include a leaky version and/or functions that feature different constant gradients in the pass region.

    Abstract: The present application belongs to the technical field of a cement material, and specifically relates to a method for preparing cement clinker and a cement material. The method for preparing cement clinker provided by the present application comprises the following steps: 1) preparing cement raw meal; 2) calcining the cement raw meal under an oxygen-rich atmosphere, the oxygen-rich atmosphere being mixed gas of oxygen and carbon dioxide in a volume ratio of (0.21-0.61):(0.39-0.79). The method for preparing the cement clinker of the present application is not easy to generate the pollutant NOx, the main component in the flue gas is CO2, which is more conducive to carbon capture and sequestration, and the cement clinker obtained has a high content of C3S, and the cement clinker has good performance (hydration effect and stability).

    Abstract: An optical isolator has high isolation and low insertion loss in bandwidth. An input fiber collimator, isolator cores, and an output fiber collimator are connected in sequence in an optical path. Acute ends of wedge surfaces of lenses and fiber heads of the collimators are polished to form small platforms. Faraday crystals of the cores are optically active and are different in wavelength; birefringent wedges of the cores are different in wedge angle; and an optical axis of the birefringent wedges at an emitting end of the first core is perpendicular to an optical axis of the birefringent wedges at an incident end of the second core. The two stages of Faraday crystals with different wavelengths are overlaid to extend and widen isolation performance in bandwidth, and a small-spot collimator design is adopted so coupling loss is low, performance is stable, and reliability is high.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method for reducing content of MnS inclusions in steel, including: (1) placing raw materials of other elements than manganese in a smelting furnace according to components of steel to perform smelting to obtain liquid steel; (2) first adding a first rare earth element and sulfur to the liquid steel, to form rare earth sulphide, then adding a raw material containing manganese to perform smelting, performing tapping after smelting is completed, and performing pouring and cooling to obtain a cast ingot. A rare earth element and sulfur are first added to liquid steel before manganese is added to generate tiny, round rare earth sulphide, and subsequently manganese is added to make it difficult to generate MnS, so that MnS and rare earth/manganese/sulfur composite inclusions are reduced, and content of MnS inclusions at a parting plane of a workpiece is reduced, thereby improving the reliability of the workpiece.

The methods may include measuring the inherent uncertainty of automatic bidding models using techniques, such as quantile regression. Further, the measure of bidding model uncertainty may be incorporated into bid formulas to inform the generated bids for an auction. The method may be further formulated to modify the bids to be more conservative when the bidding model uncertainty is higher. Once the uncertainty level of the bidding model is reduced to a more stable level, the bidding method will resume generating bids with more efficiency.

    Abstract: Additive manufacturing of continuous-fiber reinforced composites. More particularly, aspects of the invention relate to additive manufacturing systems and methods for fabricating 3D parts from continuous-fiber reinforced composites such as carbon-fiber or glass-fiber pre impregnated (“pre-preg”) sheets. A laser-assisted laminated object manufacturing method is used to fabricate continuous carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites (CFRPCs) using prepreg sheets with continuous-carbon fiber reinforcement. Graphene functions as a modifier between the prepreg sheets to improve the mechanical properties of the CFRPCs, specifically low porosity, high concentrations of continuous carbon fibers, and improved interfacial bonding strength. This composite architecture design, involving laminated continuous-carbon fiber reinforced prepreg sheets and graphene-modified interfaces, provides a readily scalable manufacturing method for producing 3D parts with desirable characteristics.
