    Abstract: A smart bookrack includes a number of book cabinets. Each book cabinet accommodates one book and carries a sensor and a determining device. Each book includes an electronic tag to identify the book. The smart bookrack further includes a RF unit, a controller, and a display device. The determining device detects whether a book being in each book cabinet. The RF unit scans identification information of each book and transmits the identification information to the controller. The controller determines a status of each book according to actual location of the book and identification information of each book. The display device displays the status of each book by using different signals. A book management system and method using the smart bookrack are also provided.

    Abstract: A system and method for conditioning air within an air handling system of a building is provided. The building has a hot water source and a cold water source. The conditioning system includes at least one heating-cooling unit connected to the air handling system, a primary water storage device, at least one heat pump, and a controller. The heating-cooling unit, which includes at least one chilled beam, is operable to transfer heat into or out of air passing within the air handling system of the building. The primary water storage device is operable to store a volume of water within a predetermined temperature range. The controller is adapted to selectively drive the heat pump to transfer heat between the primary water storage device and the chilled beam.

The identifying module retrieves the information as to functions stored in the first storage unit, and determines whether one or more of the controllable functions of the electronic device are controllable by the earphone. The control module activates all of the function units corresponding to the controllable functions of the electronic device which are controllable by the earphone, and controls one or more of the activated function units according to one or more control signals transmitted from the earphone to the electronic device. A related method is also provided.

    Abstract: An electronic device capable of detecting ultraviolent radiation and a method thereof are provided. The device includes a camera, a voltage-sensitive optical medium, a control switch, and a processor. When the electronic device enters an ultraviolent radiation detecting mode, the camera captures a first image. The processor controls the control switch to create an electrical potential across the optical medium and cause it to become darker after the camera captures the first image. The camera captures a second image after the control switch has allowed an electrical potential for a first preset time interval. The processor acquires reads the respective brightness of the first image and the second image, determines any difference, and determines and outputs the level of intensity of the ultraviolent radiation intensity by reference to a table of differences.

The device defines an open mode and stores a first image, the first image is divided into a first plurality of bocks one of which is selected as an electronic key.
