    Abstract: A video processing system may receive a current raw video frame and may estimate motion between the current frame and a previous frame to determine motion vectors (mv). Based on the same mvs, motion compensated (MC) noise reduction may be performed and MC frame rate conversion (FRC) may generate a new frame. The previous frame may be noise reduced and/or a raw video frame. A MC frame may be generated based on the previous video frame and the mvs. Noise reduction may comprise blending the current raw frame with the MC frame. A blending factor may be determined based on similarity between pixels of the current video frame and MC pixels of the previous frame. The mvs may be scaled for FRC. Noise reduction may be performed in parallel and/or prior to the FRC depending on whether raw or noise reduced frames are utilized.

    Abstract: The invention provides techniques for separating luma and chroma signal components in a composite SECAM video signal. During reception, the SECAM video signal is split into luma and chroma output. The amplitude of the chroma carrier is monitored during reception. If the chroma carrier amplitude is greater than a threshold, the value of the chroma output can be reduced. Also, if the chroma carrier amplitude is greater than another threshold, a portion of the chroma carrier can be added to the luma; or the trap band of the band-trap filter for extracting luma from the composite video can be reduced. The respective amount of the reduction in the chroma output and the increase in the luma output are independently determined but both may proportional to the magnitude of the deviation in the chroma carrier amplitude from the different thresholds.

    Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for improved motion compensated noise reduction. The system uses a temporal noise reduction filter to remove noise from the current input field and pass it through a de-interlacer to produce a noise reduced full output frame. The temporal noise reduction filter reduces noise in the present field by blending it with a predicted (motion compensated) field determined from the immediately preceding full output frame. In accordance with the invention where the current input field is for time or sequence n, the motion compensated field can be determined from the output frame corresponding to time or sequence n?1. In addition, the motion compensated field can be predicted using motion estimation and motion compensation using the current input field and the previous output frame. By using the previous de-interlaced frame which includes the information for both field polarities, the vertical resolution of the motion estimation process can be improved.
