    Abstract: A method of effectively managing information shared by synchronizing between a plurality of Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) devices is provided. According to the method, all devices exchange version information of the devices at initial synchronization, and when shared information stored in some of the devices is changed, a device changing shared information transmits new version information to the other devices via an event message, so that all of the devices can maintain the latest shared information. Also, by having a counter indicating an update state of respective parts of shared information, when shared information is changed by a plurality of the UPnP devices, it is easy to recognize which part from among the respective parts of the shared information is the latest.

    Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for managing a station by providing an encrypted key to the station in a wireless network under a Wi-Fi Protected Pre-Shared Key (WPA-PSK) environment. In the method, a registrar determines whether a new station is a guest station, based on user input. If the new station is a guest station, the registrar includes a session key (and not a shared key) into an M8 message according to a Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) Simple Config protocol and transmits the M8 message to the station. Accordingly, it is possible to permit a guest station to temporarily access the network without a user's management of information regarding the guest station.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for synchronizing a content directory service (CDSs) of a Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) device. In the method, a CDS, whose content is modified, generates an event message containing information of the modification of the content, and multicasts the event message to a UPnP network. Other CDSs that receive the event message update their content based on the event message. Accordingly, a control point is not required to initiate and does not intervene in a process of synchronizing a plurality of CDSs, thereby reducing load on a memory or a central processing unit (CPU) of the control point, compared to conventional UPnP synchronization of devices. Further, an action of a CDS need not be repeatedly called, thereby reducing network traffic.
