  • Patent number: 7064944
Abstract: A circuit breaker for detecting overload is disclosed. The circuit breaker detects an overload condition electrically without using bimetal. The circuit breaker for detecting overload includes an arc fault detector and a discharge controller. If arc fault occurs, the discharge controller discharges voltage charged in a capacitor. Therefore, the circuit breaker does not trip the circuit when arc fault occurs although high current flows on a conductor. Further, the circuit breaker for detecting overload includes a charging time constant controller so that charging time is varied according to current flowing on the conductor.

  • Publication number: 20040204081
Abstract: An apparatus and method for identifying and recognizing a connection of a portable digital camera or an ear-microphone when the portable digital camera or the ear-microphone is connected to a mobile communication terminal through its single external input terminal are disclosed. When any jack is inserted into a jack connector of the mobile communication terminal, a jack sensor outputs a sensing signal to a controller. When the controller receives the sensing signal, it controls a switching unit having switches. If there is data to be inputted from the jack connector within a predetermined time period, the controller recognizes that the digital camera has been connected to the jack connector and then changes an operating mode to a camera mode. On the other hand, if there is no data to be inputted from the jack connector for the predetermined time period, the controller recognizes that the ear-microphone has been connected to the jack connector and then changes the operating mode to an ear-microphone mode.

  • Patent number: 6756009
Abstract: A method is provided of producing a hardmetal-bonded metal component with an enhanced bond strength. The method comprises the steps of providing an iron-based metal body, mixing and compressing raw material powder of hardmetal and binder powder containing nickel, silicon and boron into a preform, heating and sintering the preform, and applying heat to the sintered body and the iron-based metal body under a state that the sintered body is brought into contact with the iron-based metal body, to thereby cause the sintered body to be bonded to the iron-based metal body. The sintered body and the iron-based metal body are thermally treated at a temperature of 1,000 to 1,200° C. for 30 or more minutes so that boron present in the sintered body is infiltrated into grain boundaries of the iron-based metal body to form a plurality of boride spikes in a bonding interface.

  • Patent number: 6577478
Abstract: An overload circuit interrupter (OLCI), and a circuit breaker with the same, which diminish erroneous operation from being caused by a dimmer. The OLCI detects overload in an AC electrical wiring system and produces an overload trip signal that shuts the AC source off. The OLCI includes a current transformer that produces the overload voltage in accordance with current variations in phase and neutral conductors. The OLCI also includes a rectifier for rectifying of the overload voltage, a level controller for limiting the rectified overload voltage, an integrator for charging the limited overload voltage and for providing overload indicative signal, and a comparator. The comparator compares the overload indicative signal with a reference overload voltage and produces the overload trip signal that shuts the AC source off. The circuit breaker may further include an arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) and a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).

  • Patent number: 6556397
Abstract: A device for detecting arc fault which distinguishes harmful arc from the signal generated by operation of a dimmer and start of electronic devices. Signals outputted from a current transformer is attenuated by a resistor which is coupled in parallel to the current transformer. By the attenuation of the resistor, the signal generated by the operation of a dimmer is not determined to be arc in arc determining part. Harmful arc and the signal generated by the start of the electronic device are distinguished by integrating both signals. As the harmful arc lasts for a long time, large signals are integrated in an integrator while the signal generated by the start of electronic device does not last for a long time.
