  • Patent number: 8270510
Abstract: An apparatus for time synchronization of an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system oversamples a received signal using a master clock having a frequency at least four times higher than a minimum sampling frequency in a transmission apparatus, sets one of a plurality of oversampled signals to an on-time signal, and shifts each of the remaining oversampled signals by a predetermined time on the basis of the on-time signal. The apparatus for time synchronization calculates a correlation value by correlating each of the shifted signals and the on-time signal with a previously known signal, detects a maximum energy value among the calculated correlation values, and detects a start point of a frame by comparing the maximum energy value with a predetermined threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20120185112
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for detecting the location of a vehicle using results sensed by sensing devices installed outside the vehicle and the internal information of the vehicle without obtaining the current location information of the vehicle using signals transmitted from a Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite. The apparatus for detecting the location of a vehicle includes a location information reception unit for receiving location information that is generated by sensing a vehicle passing by a sensing point and that corresponds to the sensing point. A location detection unit estimates a current location of the vehicle based on information sensed by internal sensors of the vehicle and control information for a vehicle manipulation part while the location information is not received, and corrects the estimated current location of the vehicle using received location information when the location information is received.

  • Publication number: 20120163275
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of providing vehicle wireless communication. In the method, a vehicle receives hand-over-related link information, which includes slot request information about slots requested by a vehicle to a roadside wireless communication device for hand-over of the vehicle, from a central control server. A hand-over preparation message, which includes the hand-over-related link information, is send to a vehicle wireless communication device connected to the vehicle. It is determined that the vehicle completed preparation for performance of the hand-over when a response message to the hand-over preparation message is received from the vehicle wireless communication device. Slots are allocated in consideration of the hand-over-related link information. Beacon frames, which include slot allocation information about the allocated slots, are transmitted to the vehicle wireless communication device.

  • Publication number: 20120136510
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for detecting vehicles using laser scanner sensors. The apparatus includes a vehicle location detection unit, a shadow area detection unit, an estimation unit, and a control unit. The vehicle location detection unit detects information about locations and headings of target vehicles located in a local detection area from sensors arranged on the road. The shadow area detection unit calculates shadow areas corresponding to the respective sensors based on the information about the locations of the target vehicles and information about types of the target vehicles. The estimation unit estimates the locations and shadow areas of the target vehicles which will be obtained after a predetermined time has elapsed. When a specific target vehicle tries to enter one of the estimated shadow areas, the control unit outputs a speed control command used to decrease the speed of the specific target vehicle.
