Abstract: An apparatus and method for a universal plug and play (UPnP) service in a public network environment, the apparatus including: a UPnP multicast monitoring module to monitor a header of a frame inputted to a repeater and to request a discard of the frame; a discard control module to select and to discard the frame for which the discard has been requested; and a switching management module to register and to manage information on discarded frames.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a wireless network to maintain a QOS is provided. The apparatus includes a resource calculating unit which calculates resources needed to transmit packets if a transmission rate of a network changes, a comparing unit which compares the calculated resources and resources allotted by an access point of the network; and a control unit which determines whether to request additional resources by using a result of the comparison by the comparing unit.

Abstract: An access device and method for preventing transmission of copyrighted contents to an external network and a method for the same. The access device includes a packet-header analyzer analyzing a header of a packet received from a home network device, a copyrighted-content sensor detecting whether the packet includes copyrighted content as a result of the analysis, an address converter for converting a packet source IP address into an IP address supported by the external network if a packet destination address is an external network address as a result of the analysis, a mapping-table generator generating a mapping table for managing a mapping a relationship between the packet source IP address and the converted IP address, and a packet transmitter transmitting the packet to the IP address supported by the external network and discarding the packet to block transmission of the copyrighted content to the external network if the copyrighted-content sensor detects that the packet includes the copyrighted content.

Abstract: An apparatus and/or system implements a method for storing and reproducing contents received through broadcast signals, where the method of managing content includes reconstructing a broadcast signal received from a broadcasting company, transmitting a content ID and predetermined authentication information to the broadcasting company, the content ID used to discriminate content contained in the broadcast signal, receiving content management information including a content key corresponding to the content ID from the broadcasting company, encrypting the content using the content key, and storing the encrypted content in a content storage apparatus.

Abstract: A data transmission method and a data transmission system using an improved network address translation method. The data transmission method includes requesting a real-time service from a multimedia device to a home gateway within a home network; inputting a binary code corresponding to the multimedia device to a service type field indicating priority information of data when the home gateway forms a mapping table used for conversion of addresses; the home gateway requesting setting of an IP address of the multimedia device from a service provider; setting the IP address including the binary code corresponding to the multimedia device according to the request of setting the IP address; and the service provider transmitting a data packet including the binary code corresponding to the multimedia device. The method is applied to the selective IP packet, thereby shortening the transmission time of real-time data packets for multimedia.

Abstract: A system where a home server can recognize a location of a home device in a home network. The home device includes a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag which stores information about the home device, and each plug receptacle constituting the home network has an RFID reader. Accordingly, the RFID reader checks the location of the RFID tag in real time and transfers the information about the RFID tag and a receptacle identifier to a home server, so that the home server recognizes the location of the home device in real time using the information transferred. Therefore, using the transferred information, the home server can recognize in real-time the location of the home device, and also transfer necessary information to the home device.

Abstract: A home-network and a method for allocating channels are provided. The home-network includes a buffer having queues and temporarily storing a data to be transmitted to each device, a priority sense part determining if the data of a packet unit transmitted from an outer server has a high priority for transmission and first inputting the data with a high priority into the queue of the buffer, a frame sense part sensing how many packets are included in one frame of the data stored in the buffer, and a channel allocation part allocating channels if enough channels are available for the transmission of a whole frame according to the number of packets sensed by the frame sense part. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce a delay time of wireless data, and channels are allocated according to the order of receipt of the data such that all devices perform equally.

Abstract: A wireless local area network system capable of supporting host mobility services and an operation method therefor are disclosed. The wireless local area network system includes a gateway performing the functions of a home agent in mobile wireless communication environments and sending prefix information; and access points, each access point allocating an Internet Protocol (IP) address to a mobile host within a range thereof by using prefix information of the gateway. Thereafter, each access point produces and sends a Binding Update list that corresponds to the mobile hosts to the gateway. Thus, the present invention supports the mobility for mobile hosts with or without a mobile IPv6 stack, in a wireless local area network.

Abstract: A wireless communication system to support real time service and handoff method thereof. A plurality of mobile management units having a plurality of visitor management units perform a handoff based on the movement of a mobile communication unit. One or more visitor management unit is a common visitor management unit that is included in a network constructed by the plurality of mobile management units. When the mobile communication unit moves to another visitor management unit of the same mobile management unit, the mobile management unit including the mobile communication unit updates the mobility information to provide a real time service path between the information providing unit and the mobile communication unit. When the mobile communication unit moves to a different mobile management unit, the common visitor management unit requests another mobile management unit for registration of the mobile communication unit, thereby making a reservation for a real time service path.
