    Abstract: An electrode assembly and a secondary battery having the same, which include a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer deposited on a positive electrode collector, a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer deposited on a negative electrode collector, and a separator separating the positive electrode from the negative electrode. The negative electrode active material layer includes a negative electrode active material of a metal-graphite complex, and the thickness of the negative electrode collector is in the range from 16.3 to 24.2% of that of the negative electrode active material layer. The thickness of the secondary battery can be reduced while maintaining battery capacity by controlling the ratio of the thickness of the negative active material layer to the negative electrode collector and controlling the tensile stress of the negative electrode collector.
