For each social network object, a ranking function is applied to ranking data about the social network object based on its type. In addition, the recency of an event on the social network related to the social network object is evaluated, in order to calculate the score for the social network object. A relative ranking for each of the plurality of social network objects based on its score is determined, and the score and relative ranking of each of the social network objects stored.

Abstract: A method for detecting crude oil or gas in a drilling sample includes introducing a drilling sample into a sample solution containing nano particles, illuminating the sample solution comprising the drilling sample and the nano particles by a laser beam, collecting light scattered by the drilling sample and the nano particles in the sample solution, obtaining a Raman spectrum from the light scattered by the drilling sample and the nano particles in the sample solution, identifying, in the Raman spectrum, a spectral signature associated with a substance around a predetermined Raman shift, and detecting targeted chemicals correlated with crude oil or gas existence underground from where the drilling sample, based on the spectral signature of the substance in the Raman spectrum.

Abstract: In one embodiment, video is transmitted between a sending device and a receiving device. The sending device is configured to receive adjacent camera views and encode the adjacent camera views independently into video streams. The sending device performs an image analysis on the adjacent camera views in order to generate a projection matrix to relate the adjacent camera views. The projection matrix and the encoded video streams are sent to at least one receiver. The receiver is configured to receive the encoded video streams and the projection matrix relating the encoded video streams. The receiver calculates an aggregate video stream using the projection matrix. The aggregate video stream includes portions of at least two of the encoded video streams. Other receivers may receive the same encoded video streams and generate a different aggregate video stream having a varying size, resolution, or number of views.

Abstract: According to various implementations, a demand response (DR) strategy system is described that can effectively model the HVAC energy consumption of a house using a learning based approach that is based on actual energy usage data collected over a period of days. This modeled energy consumption may be used with day-ahead energy pricing and the weather forecast for the location of the house to develop a DR strategy that is more effective than prior DR strategies. In addition, a computational experiment system is described that generates DR strategies based on various energy consumption models and simulated energy usage data for the house and compares the cost effectiveness and energy usage of the generated DR strategies.

Abstract: An apparatus supporting MTC in an LTE environment including an LTE modem and a CDMA modem. The LTE modem accesses a first wireless network and executes first data transactions, where the first wireless network comports with LTE standards. The CDMA modem is operationally coupled to the LTE modem, and accesses a second wireless network and executes second data transactions, where the second wireless network comports with one or more CDMA-based standards. The CDMA modem includes an inter-radio access technology (IRAT) API element and an inter-process communication (IPC) module. The IRAT API element is configured to send/receive IRAT messages via function calls to/from the LTE modem, where the IRAT messages remain the same regardless of interface requirements for the LTE modem. The IPC module is coupled to the IRAT API element, and is configured to generalize the function calls to enable the CDMA modem to interoperate with the LTE modem.

Abstract: Optical compensation films (positive C-plate) with mesogen anisotropic subunits (OASUs) that have high positive birefringence throughout the wavelength range 400 nm<?<800 nm are provided. The optical compensation films may be processed by solution casting to yield a polymer film with high birefringence without the need for stretching, photopolymerization, or other processes. Such optical compensation films are suitable for use as a positive C-plate in LCDs, particularly IPS-LCDs.

The hydrophobic agent is a mixture of a substance having a structure represented by Formula I and any one or more of a low-molecular weight silicone oil, dihydroxydiphenyl silane, fluorine-containing silicone oil and white oil.

Abstract: A transformer skeleton and a winding method using the same are provided. The transformer skeleton includes at least one limiting hook. The limiting hook and a pin of the transformer skeleton are located on a same side of the transformer skeleton. A wire, which is led out from a winding groove of the transformer skeleton, electrically contacts the pin and passes through the limiting hook. The limiting hook is used to prevent the wire from moving upward. The advantage of the transformer skeleton is that the transformer skeleton disposes at least one limiting hook which is used to prevent the wire from moving upward and only a single layer of the wire contacts the pin in order to reduce the height of a tin cone. The transformer skeleton can decrease the height of the tin cone by 70%˜80%, thereby efficiently decreasing the height and width of the transformer.
