Abstract: Various embodiments relate to processing of a function based on a movement state of an electronic device. A method according to an embodiment may include receiving information related to movement of an electronic device or an external device outside the electronic device. The method also includes differently controlling, on the basis of the information, a function of an input device or output device of the electronic device or the external device, an application to be executed in the electronic device or the external device, or at least a part of a function of the application, with respect to a message received by the electronic device, by using at least one process. Other embodiments are possible.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing an application in a portable terminal is provided. The method includes receiving an identifier that represents a screen configuration of a particular application from a server that corresponds to the portable terminal; selecting a sample screen from among a plurality of sample screens provided by the particular application based on the received identifier; and configuring a screen of the particular application based on the selected sample screen.
