    Abstract: A method of controlling an air conditioner is provided. The method may include determining whether the air conditioner is operating in an abnormal state, and, when the air conditioner is operating in the abnormal state, operating a compressor in a safe mode having a different frequency pattern than when it is operated in a normal mode of the compressor. This allows the air conditioner to provide continuous heating/cooling, even when operating in an abnormal state.
