  • Patent number: 5720056
Abstract: An above-ground swimming pool comprises a primary wall extending above a ground surface to enclose a primary pool area. The primary wall including an enclosure region having a first wall height and a spillway region having a second wall height lower than the first wall height. An arcuate secondary wall extends above the ground surface. Opposite ends of the secondary wall are attached to the primary wall at either side of the spillway region. The secondary wall has a third wall height lower than the first and second wall heights. The secondary wall and the primary wall enclose a secondary pool area. A pump is provided to pumping water from the secondary pool to the primary pool to generate a flow of water over the spillway region. The primary wall may consist of a first wall and a second wall joined together at a transition piece. The secondary wall may additionally be connected to the primary wall at the transition piece.

  • Patent number: 5333323
Abstract: A swimming pool structure comprises a swimming pool sidewall defining a pool area, an elevated deck attached to the sidewall along an upper rim thereof, and a pair of ladder side rails extending from the deck into a water-holding pool area defined by the sidewall, the side rails being connected at upper ends to at least one of the sidewall and the deck. The ladder side rails are provided with elements for ensuring that the side rails are oriented at an acute angle with respect to the pool sidewall. A pair of hand rails are connected to the respective side rails and extend inwardly therefrom into the pool area. A plurality of steps are disposed between and connected to the side rails, while a pair of platform guard rails are connected to the deck in parallel with the side rails.

  • Patent number: 5234588
Abstract: A device for use in a system for cleaning a swimming pool includes a housing, a filter and a sterilizing component. The housing has an inlet port adapted to be connected to the sidewall of a swimming pool and an outlet port adapted to be connected to a suction pump, while the filter is disposed in the housing between between the inlet port and the outlet port for removing debris from a stream of pool water flowing from the inlet port through the housing to the outlet port during a cleaning operation. The sterilizing component is disposed in a predetermined location in the housing between the inlet port and the outlet port and in spaced relation with respect to the filter for dispensing a chemical sterilizing agent into the stream during the cleaning operation.

  • Patent number: 5231807
Abstract: A swimming pool support structure comprises an elongate upright member having a longitudinal axis and a pivot attached at least indirectly to the upright member at one end thereof for defining an axis of rotation extending in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis. An elongate top rail member is provided at an end with a connector for pivotably connecting the top rail member to the upright member at the pivot, while a fastener is provided for fixing the top rail member to the upright member upon the attainment of a desired orientation angle of the top rail member with respect to the upright member. A swimming pool incorporating the support structure is installed by erecting a first upright member at a predetermined location, pivotally attaching a first end of a first top rail member to the pivot pin of that first upright member, rotating the top rail member about the pivot pin until a first desired angle of orientation is attained between the top rail member and the bearing plate of the upright member.

  • Patent number: 5155872
Abstract: An above-ground swimming pool comprises a side wall including a plurality of interlocking wall panels, a lower rail, an upper or top rail, a pool liner provided along an edge with a mounting bead, and a mounting component integral with the top rail member for receiving the bead on the liner. The lower rail member is provided with a first longitudinal channel for receiving a lower end or edge of the sidewall and the top rail member is provided with a second longitudinal channel for receiving an upper end or edge of the sidewall. The sidewall includes a plurality of elongate panel sections each provided along opposite longitudinal edges with cross-sectionally C-shaped locking elements for forming a locking relationship with adjacent panel sections.

  • Patent number: 4997061
Abstract: An A-frame ladder comprises two side rail assemblies and a platform guard rail assembly each provided in their rail members with elongate oval apertures defining handholds or hand grips. Steps of the side rail assemblies and the platform of the platform guard rail assembly are formed with elongate openings for draining water from the upper surfaces of the steps and the platform and for augmenting the gripping of users' feet by those upper surfaces. The steps are connected to the side rails by snap lock pins and the side rail assemblies are connected to guard rail members of the platform guard rail assembly by twist-ock pins, whereby an outer side rail assembly may be removably disconnected from the platform to prevent access to a swimming pool by youngsters. Brackets are attachable to the guard rail members of the platform guard rail assembly for connecting the platform guard rail assembly to sections of a perimetrally extending fence, whereby the ladder becomes an integral part of the fence.
