  • Publication number: 20220272567
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the rate-controlled forwarding of traffic to a base station of a radio access network (“RAN”). The rate of the forwarding of the traffic may be based on a latency sensitivity of the traffic, metrics associated with the base station, and an ingress capacity of the base station. The metrics associated with the base station may include congestion and/or load metrics, radio frequency (“RF”) metrics, or other suitable metrics. The latency sensitivity of the traffic may be determined based on a source and/or destination of the traffic, a network slice associated with the traffic, or other suitable traffic attributes. After receiving the rate-controlled traffic, the base station may perform scheduling and/or queueing of the traffic in order to wirelessly provide the traffic to one or more User Equipment (“UEs”).

  • Publication number: 20220264335
Abstract: A Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) device receives first parameters associated with a user device from a first radio access network (RAN) device. The MEC device performs functions associated with an application being executed by the user device and the MEC device is co-located with the RAN device. The MEC device receives second parameters associated with the user device from a core network device. The MEC device modifies performance of the functions based on the received first and second parameters and provides third parameters associated with the user device to a second RAN device that is co-located with the MEC device for adjusting performance of a network.

  • Patent number: 11395222
Abstract: A power and environmental orchestration (P&EO) system uses network utilization condition information to implement scenarios that partially or fully reduce power requirements for radio access network (RAN) elements. A network device obtains power orchestration scenarios for a RAN and evaluates utilization data of multiple components of the RAN against the power orchestration scenarios. The network device determines that the utilization data meets a threshold for one of the power orchestration scenarios and applies the one of the power orchestration scenarios to reconfigure the RAN for reduced power consumption.

  • Publication number: 20220224635
Abstract: A device may provide path data identifying a primary path and one or more alternate paths for segment routing traffic in the network, and may receive performance data indicating a performance degradation in the primary path. The device may determine that the performance data satisfies a first threshold, and may request, based on the performance data satisfying the first threshold, alternate path performance data. The device may receive the alternate path performance data based on the request, and may compare the alternate path performance data for the one or more alternate paths. The device may select a particular alternate path, of the one or more alternate paths, based on comparing the alternate path performance data for the one or more alternate paths, and may trigger, based on the performance data satisfying a second threshold, a failover of the traffic from the primary path and to the particular alternate path.

  • Publication number: 20220210767
Abstract: A method and device is disclosed to select a network access link for an application in a user equipment (UE) device to use for communicating with a network. The method may include determining a plurality of network access links associated with the UE device and determining one or more criteria associated with a request to access a network. The criteria may include throughput, financial cost, latency, or signal strength. The method may include determining a score for each of the plurality of network access links with respect to the criteria. The score score may be based on historical data related to the criteria. The method may include comparing the score for each of the plurality of network access links with the criteria and selecting one of the network access links for an application to use to communicate with the network.

  • Publication number: 20220182830
Abstract: A device may receive a wireless communication that is provided to a wireless network by a user equipment. The device may identify a value of a parameter of the wireless communication. The device may obtain an expected value of the parameter. The device may compare the value and the expected value. The device may determine, based on comparing the value and the expected value, that the wireless communication was relayed by a wireless communication repeater. The device may determine that the wireless communication repeater is unauthorized to relay the wireless communication. The device may perform an action associated with the wireless communication repeater relaying the wireless communication and based on the wireless communication repeater being unauthorized to relay the wireless communication.

  • Patent number: 11337064
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for enhanced authentication techniques that leverage network-based location determination of UEs, such as mobile telephones or other devices that communicate with a wireless network. For example, a wireless network may monitor, determine, or otherwise maintain information regarding the geographic location of User Equipment (“UEs”) that are associated with the wireless network. Some embodiments may utilize such network-monitored location information to verify that a participant device, associated with a given UE, is located within a particular proximity of the UE when performing an authentication process to receive services or resources.

  • Publication number: 20220131780
Abstract: A system described herein may provide for the tracking and/or calculating of performance metrics associated with a network by marking traffic and determining performance characteristics of the marked traffic. Such performance characteristics or metrics may include throughput, latency, jitter, and/or other metrics. The marking may be performed on “user” traffic, which may be traffic that is generated or sent via the network by an application or service (e.g., a voice call service, a content streaming service, etc.), as opposed to “synthetic” or “test” traffic, which is traffic that is generated or sent for the purposes of testing performance of the network (e.g., traffic related to a “speed test” or the like).

  • Patent number: 11302175
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the network-implemented detection of locations that exhibit excessive density of individuals, and/or for the detection of individuals who do not maintain a minimum level of distance between each other. Location information of one or more User Equipment (“UEs”) may be monitored and compared to policy information to determine that the locations exhibit at least a threshold level of population density. Further, remedial measures may be taken when such situations are detected, such as alerting devices that are located within, or are heading towards, such locations.

  • Publication number: 20220053476
Abstract: A device of a network may receive a session configuration message for an application session associated with an application of a user equipment (UE) that provided the session configuration message. The device of a network may identify, from the session configuration message, a quality of service (QoS) profile for the application session. The device of a network may determine that the application is authorized to use a network slice of the network that satisfies one or more QoS thresholds of the QoS profile. The device of a network may identify resources of the network that can be configured to satisfy the one or more QoS thresholds. The device of a network may instantiate the resources for communication of application data of the application session. Instantiating the resources may enable the UE to communicate the application data via the network slice using the resources.

  • Patent number: 11252788
Abstract: A system described herein may provide a technique for the modeling of channel condition information, associated with a base station of a radio access network (“RAN”) associated with a wireless network, over time. The model may be used to determine, estimate, or predict channel information associated with the base station at a given time, such as a time corresponding to a request for content (e.g., streaming content). The channel condition information corresponding to this time, as determined based on the model, may be used to select a particular version of the content to provide in response to the request. By virtue of receiving this information, the content provider may forgo performing a speed test, a ramp up transmission scheme, and/or other technique that may otherwise used to select the version of the content to provide in response to the request.
