  • Publication number: 20180072675
Abstract: A class of modified salicylaldehyde derivatives has also been synthesized and a series of modified pyridine-based hydrazones identified that have potent antimicrobial activity against multiple Candida spp. These compounds have been characterized using fungal growth inhibition assays, mammalian cell toxicity assays, time-kill assays and synergy studies of these novel pyridine-based hydrazones on both azole-susceptible and azole-resistant fungal species. Effectiveness of these compounds in inhibiting the growth of protozoal parasites was also found.
