  • Publication number: 20020022805
Abstract: A system for automatically metering a predetermined dosage of a medicament from a cartridge. The system includes a tubular cartridge containing the medicament and a plunger which is movable in the cartridge to dispense the medicament through one end. The cartridge further includes an interior tab (e.g. a ring) for stopping forward movement of a detent carried by the trigger of a syringe body in which the cartridge is positioned. By limiting forward movement of the detent, forward movement of the plunger rod is also stopped, thereby controlling the amount of medicament dispensed from the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 6213984
Abstract: A cartridge and system are described for automatically metering a predetemined dosage of a medicament. The cartridge includes a tab on its exterior, and a dispensing gun which receives the cartridge has a detent for stopping forward movement of the upper end of a trigger when the detent contacts the tab on the cartridge. When the detent contacts the tab on the cartridge, no further medicament can be dispensed on that stroke of the trigger.

  • Patent number: 5964736
Abstract: A closed delivery system is described for the handling of injectable biological products and vaccines used in the treatment and prevention of livestock diseases. This system embodies a multidose prefilled disposable cartridge and a metered pistolgrip syringe body. The cartridge is breech loaded into the syringe body and the product is dispensed from the cartridge by a unique drag link mechanism as a means for advancing the plunger rod and forcing the vaccine from the cartridge into the flesh of the animal being treated. Each prefilled cartridge is disposed of after it is emptied and no cleaning is required. A color coding system between the multidose, prefilled, disposable cartridges and the syringe bodies insure that proper dosages are given and that products are not mixed up or confused by the technicians administering the products.

  • Patent number: 5733258
Abstract: Disclosed is a closed system for the handling of injectable biological products and vaccines used in the treatment and prevention of livestock diseases. This system embodies a prefilled disposable cartridge (44) with disposable needle (48) attached and a metered pistolgrip syringe. The cartridge (44) is breech loaded into the syringe and the product is dispensed from the cartridge by a unique drag link (22) mechanism as a means for advancing the plunger rod (36) and forcing the vaccine from the cartridge (44) into the flesh of animal being treated. Each prefilled cartridge is disposed of after it is emptied and no cleaning is required. A color coding system between the prefilled cartridges 44 and the and the syringe bodies insure that proper dosages are given and that different products are not mixed up or confused with each other by the technicians dispensing the biological products.
