Patent number: 8851339Abstract: A device for application of a self-adhesive product, wherein the device operates with at least a first step and a second step. The first step and second step being temporally separate. A device for application of a flowable product includes a first section and a second section, the first section being sized such that at least a portion of the first section fits within the second section, the first section being slidable relative to the second section. A device includes a first section having a protrusion extending from its outer surface that fits through a slot in the second section.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2010Date of Patent: October 7, 2014Assignee: S.C. Patent number: 8814456Abstract: A device employed by a user for applying a self-adhesive product to a surface may include an outer housing configured for gripping by a single hand of the user, the outer housing having a distal end, and a volume of self-adhesive product disposed within the outer housing. An automatic dispensing mechanism is disposed within the outer housing and operatively coupled to the outer housing and the volume of self-adhesive product, the automatic dispensing mechanism configured to advance at least a portion of the volume of self-adhesive product through the outer housing distal end in response to a manual actuation force applied to the outer housing.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2010Date of Patent: August 26, 2014Assignee: S.C. Patent number: 7520406Abstract: A device for applying controlled unitized doses of a flowable material to a surface is disclosed. The device includes a tubular body and a plunger. The body has a wall defining a cavity, and the body has a first open end and an opposite second end having a dispensing orifice. A flowable material is contained in the cavity of the body. The plunger has an outer sleeve dimensioned for surrounding at least a section the body and an inner pushing structure dimensioned for axial movement in the cavity of the body. The device has means for indexed positioning of the second end of the body and an inner end of the inner pushing structure of the plunger relative to each other to provide controlled unitized doses of the flowable material to a surface when the plunger is moved toward the body by a user's hand.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2005Date of Patent: April 21, 2009Assignee: S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc.Inventors: Doraiswami Jaichandra, Gerard Michael O'Brien, George Reeves, Michael E. Klinkhammer, Steven A. Zach, Chris A. Kubicek, Nathan R. Westphal

Patent number: 6257455Abstract: A retainer for holding a pump body onto a container is formed with an annular trough having a passage offset from the axis of the retainer and permitting escape of build-up pressure in the container to the outside. The trough has a radial surface in which the passage terminates. An annular laminate layer of gas-permeable/liquid impermeable material is secured to the radial surface covering the passage.Type: GrantFiled: December 17, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Owens-Illinois Closure Inc.Inventors: George R. Patent number: 5550059Abstract: A fluid sensing pipette includes an outer conductive tube forming a first electrode and an inner conductive tube forming a second electrode. The inner conductive tube is disposed concentrically within the outer conductive tube. To insulate the inner conductive tube from the outer conductive tube, the inner conductive tube is coated with a thin, uniform, and consistent Parylene coating. A hydrophobic polymeric tube is disposed concentrically within the inner conductive tube to prevent cross-contamination between different biological samples aspirated into the pipette. The inner and outer conductive tubes are separately coupled to a level detection circuit which permits the pipette to detect entry of the pipette into a conductive fluid. The level detection circuit determines the impedance between the first and second electrodes and produces a control signal in response to the impedance falling below a predetermined threshold.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1994Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Bayer CorporationInventors: David L.
