  • Patent number: 7519341
Abstract: A user's media preferences can be obtained and stored for later use in setting up a currently-available media device. The media device inputs are programmed based on the media device's capabilities and the available media sources for the particular geographic area in which the user is currently located. Media device inputs may be set by the media device itself or by a computer attached to the media device, either directly or via a network. Device data, including information such as the number of media device inputs to be programmed, and whether or not the media device inputs can be toggled between several stations, is obtained. Station data, including available media sources, is obtained for the current geographic area. A user profile, including information such as input preference settings and genre preferences, is also obtained. The media device inputs are then programmed based on the user profile, the station data for the geographic area, and the media device capabilities.

  • Patent number: 6675082
Abstract: A system and method is provided for determining vehicle-specific settings for a user of a vehicle. Normalized positions settings in a reference vehicle, or alternatively, normalized user measurements of a reference user are stored to a storage media, such as a smart card. In this manner, a user profile is created on the storage media. The normalized position settings and normalized user measurements provide references that may be used in determining the most suitable settings for a specific user of a specific vehicle. A vehicle user thus may carry a user profile on a storage media for use across all different models and brands of vehicles. The user profile may be used to automatically adjust the settings in other vehicles than the user's primary vehicle which allows a user to change vehicles without having to take the time to re-adjust the vehicle settings.

  • Publication number: 20030158465
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for facilitating compliance with a dietary restriction. Preparation criteria for the dietary restriction are compared to preparation notes for a food item. A dietary solution is provided that is compatible with the dietary restriction, e.g. to approve or disallow a food item, or to provide a preparation plan for preparing the food item to make it compatible with the dietary restriction. An identified ingredient or dietary restriction may be expanded be searching for related ingredients or characteristics. A customized menu may be prepared. The method may be implemented via a distributed computing network, and databases may be established to store data relating to ingredients, related ingredients, food preparation procedures, etc. in relation to dietary restrictions and/or food items.
