  • Publication number: 20080073106
Abstract: A cable includes a plurality of twisted wire pairs housed inside an inner jacket, a shielding layer, and an outer jacket. Each of the twisted wire pairs has a respective twist length, defined as a distance wherein the wires of the twisted wire pair twist about each other one complete revolution. At least two of the respective twist lengths purposefully vary along a length of the cable. In one embodiment, the cable includes four twisted wire pairs, each with its twist length purposefully varying along the length of the cable. The twisted wire pairs may have a pair separator located there between. The pair separator may also twist, and may twist in a direction opposite to a twist direction of the twisted wire pairs. The cable is designed to surpass the requirements of CAT 6 and CAT 6A cabling, and demonstrates no alien crosstalk and low internal crosstalk characteristics even at data bit rates of 10 Gbit/sec and beyond.
