  • Patent number: 12669040
Abstract: A valve assembly for integration within a wellbore string is provided. The valve assembly includes a valve housing defining a fluid passage therethrough and having injection ports, and a flow restriction component extending between the fluid passage and the injection ports to establish fluid communication therebetween. The flow restriction component is configured to create a flowrate restriction along a flow path length thereof, with each injection port being aligned with respective portions of the flow restriction component to define respective flow path lengths defining respective degrees of flowrate restriction. The valve assembly also includes a flow adjuster connected to the valve housing and being fluid-pressure actuatable to align an outlet with one of the injection ports such that fluid flow between the fluid passage and the reservoir is restricted by a corresponding degree of flowrate restriction to maintain an injection rate substantially constant.

  • Patent number: 12371969
Abstract: A flow control apparatus for producing hydrocarbon material from a subterranean formation is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing that defines a housing passage, and a flow communicator that extends through the housing for effecting fluid communication between the housing passage and the subterranean formation. The apparatus includes a flow controller within the housing for modulating flow communication between the housing passage and the subterranean formation via the flow communicator. The flow controller includes a filter medium-defining counterpart and a shroud-defining counterpart, and the filter medium-defining counterpart has a filter medium. The flow controller is configurable for disposition relative to the flow communicator to open, close, or screen the flow communicator. While the filter medium and the flow communicator are not aligned, the housing and shroud-defining counterpart shields the filter medium from the housing passage and the external environment.

  • Publication number: 20200080389
Abstract: A wellbore equipment assembly and components for a wellbore equipment assembly are disclosed along with a method of connecting wellbore string components. In some embodiments, the assembly includes a first component and a second component with an end portion received in an end of the first component defining a connection or a joint. The first and second components include corresponding threads that together define a threaded region of the joint or connection. The first and second components also include corresponding interface surfaces that together define an interface region of the joint or connection that is spaced apart from the threaded region. The interface surfaces are sized such that the interface surface of the second component is urged into frictional engagement with the interface surface of the first component to bear at least part of a torque applied to the assembly.

  • Patent number: 7410003
Abstract: An improved dual purpose blow out preventer (“BOP”) that provides both deployment and wellhead pressure containment functions. The dual purpose BOP may include four sets of rams including a set of seal/slip rams that provide bi-directional sealing being a first barrier to downhole pressure. The seal/slip rams may also grip a portion of a bottom hole assembly and create the bottom seal of an annular chamber. The BOP may include a set of seal rams that create the top seal of the annular chamber. The annular chamber may be pressurized through a port in the BOP, which may actuate a coiled tubing connector. The BOP may include a set of locate rams used to position a coiled tubing connector within the BOP stack. The BOP may also include a set of blind/shear rams that provide bi-directional sealing being a second barrier to wellhead pressure.

  • Patent number: 7086486
Abstract: A flow control valve is disclosed for controlling the rotation of a hydraulic motor, such as a turbine, a mud motor, for example, having an element that rotates in response to power fluid. The valve disclosed may include a valve housing and a valve piston, each having a port, moveable relative to one another. When the ports at least partially align, bypass flow is generated which acts to decrease the speed of rotation of the element, such as a turbine shaft. An energizer, such as a pump assembly, is further described which is adapted to move the valve housing or the valve piston in response to the speed of rotation, such that bypass flow is a function of the motor speed (i.e. speed of rotation of the element). A bottom hole assembly including a flow control valve and a method of controlling the rotation of a downhole tool are also described.
