    Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating contaminated water which includes a bioreactor containing contaminant eating bacteria. The contaminated water is introduced into the lower portion of the bioreactor at a predetermined rate. The upper portion of the bioreactor includes media packing which provides surface area for the bacteria. As the contaminated water travels upwardly in the reactor, the bacteria consume the contaminants. Additional bioreactors may be connected in series to the first bioreactor as necessary.
