  • Publication number: 20250137290
Abstract: A lock cylinder including a plug, a plurality of key followers, a sensor assembly structured to sense positions of the key followers, and a controller in communication with the sensor assembly. The plug includes a keyway and a plurality of plug tumbler shafts. Each of the key followers is movably seated in a corresponding one of the plug tumbler shafts and includes a sensor interface. The sensor assembly includes a plurality of sensors, each of which includes at least one sensing region. Each of the key followers is associated with one of the sensors via an associative link formed between the sensor interface and the corresponding sensing region. The sensors are structured to generate an output signal indicative of the transverse position of the associated key follower, and the controller is structured to select and perform actions based upon the output signals.

  • Patent number: 12203290
Abstract: An exemplary clutch mechanism includes a casing, first and second hubs rotatably mounted to the casing, an electrically-actuated drive assembly mounted within the casing, and a clutching lug movably mounted within the casing. The lug has an engaged position in which the lug couples the hubs for joint rotation and a disengaged position in which the hubs are rotationally decoupled. The drive assembly is operable to drive the lug between the engaged and disengaged positions to couple and decouple the hubs. The clutch mechanism is modular and self-contained within the casing such that the mechanism can be installed to each of a plurality of different lockset products without opening the casing.

  • Patent number: 10612273
Abstract: An anti-barricading thumb turn assembly is configured for use with a lockset including a bolt movable to lock and unlock a door. The anti-barricading thumb turn assembly includes a spindle connected to a thumb turn with a biasing member on one side of the lockset. The lockset is also operable by a key from the other side of the door to lock and unlock the door. Under normal operation, the spindle and thumb turn rotate as the bolt is locked and unlocked. In a barricading situation in which the thumb turn is held in an attempt to prevent the spindle from rotating, the biasing member allows the spindle to rotate relative to the thumb turn upon application of sufficient force through rotation of the key to overcome the biasing force and unlock the bolt even if the thumb turn is held stationary.

  • Patent number: 10563431
Abstract: A cable lock including a lock body having a locking mechanism with a locked state and an unlocked state. A ceramic body cable includes a plurality of nested ceramic bodies and a cord, wherein each one of the plurality of ceramic bodies includes a center portion having an aperture. Each aperture of the plurality of nested ceramic bodies forms a channel through which the cord is positioned. Each of the ceramic bodies also includes a projection and a space such that the projection of one of the ceramic bodies overlaps the space of an adjacent ceramic body. A mesh sleeve is positioned on an exterior of the ceramic body cable and a shrunken heat shrinkable tube is positioned over the mesh sleeve. The combined ceramic body cable, mesh sleeve, and shrunken heat shrinkable tube are coupled to the lock body.

  • Patent number: 10400475
Abstract: A lock device including a keyway sized and configured to receive a key, a sensor assembly including an optical source and a key height sensor, and a controller in communication with the sensor assembly. The optical source is configured to generate an optical signal, and the key height sensor is configured to generate a key height signal in response to receiving the optical signal. The key is configured to interact with the optical signal such that the key height signal varies based upon the height of the key. The controller is configured to generate a key profile based at least in part upon the key height signal, to compare the key profile to authorization data, to select an action based upon the comparing, and to perform the action.
