  • Patent number: 6860459
Abstract: A method and apparatus for mounting a component using a mounting accessory is disclosed herein. The mounting accessory and the component are designed and configured to provide a variety of different mounting methods, as required by the environment. The component and the mounting accessory are designed to provide a variety of mated relationships therebetween. The component makes contact with the mounting accessory in at least two locations or contact points to provide a secure attachment that is easily changeable to provide a desired orientation. Connecting the component to the mounting accessory is carried out with at least two mated attachment points, a portion of the component is received into an orifice of the mounting accessory and a portion of the mounting accessory is received into an orifice of the component.

  • Patent number: 6702315
Abstract: A braking feature is provided that can resist gliding board runaway, i.e., uncontrolled gliding without a rider, or other movement of a gliding board, e.g., a gliding device having no foot bindings. The braking feature may always be active to resist gliding board movement, and/or resist movement only when a rider is not supported on the gliding device. Activation of a braking feature may be delayed. The braking feature may be controlled based on a force urging a bottom surface of the gliding device into contact with the gliding surface, e.g., the braking feature may be deactivated if the weight of a rider is supported on the gliding device. A force that deactivates a braking feature may be made adjustable, e.g., to accommodate riders of different weights or to provide different braking feature responses.

  • Patent number: 6694922
Abstract: A leash handle assembly having a housing with a grip portion, a spool assembly rotatably mounted in the housing, a trigger movably mounted to the grip portion, and a dual-position switch mounted to the housing proximate to the grip portion. The spool assembly is adapted for winding and unwinding a leash. The movable trigger is actuated to inhibit the leash from extending or retracting, and released to enable the leash to extend out of the housing in response to an external force. The spooling assembly is spring biased to cause the leash to retract in the absence of trigger actuation and the presence of a preset external force. The dual-position switch operates in a first position to lock the trigger in an actuated position and in a second position to enable the moveable trigger to operate freely. The dual-mode switch is positioned to enable a user to actuate it with the same hand that grasps the leash handle and actuates the movable trigger.
