  • Publication number: 20190270419
Abstract: Methods are provided for optimizing usage of water harvested or generated on-board a vehicle. An amount of water selected for injection or spraying purposes, as well as an order of water injection responsive to various vehicle operating conditions, is varied based on the amount of water to be delivered, as well as a current water level relative to a predicted future water level. The method allows water usage benefits to be maximized particularly when water availability is limited.

  • Publication number: 20190257235
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for diagnostics of a gasoline particulate filter in an exhaust system after confirming that specific conditions are met including that an exhaust tuning valve is not degraded. In one example, a method may include indicating degradation of a hose coupled across a particulate filter responsive to a difference between a first differential pressure and a second differential pressure being greater than a threshold, the first differential pressure measured by a differential pressure sensor positioned in the hose responsive to a downstream exhaust tuning valve being fully open, the second differential pressure measured by the differential pressure sensor responsive to the exhaust tuning valve being fully closed.

  • Publication number: 20180291506
Abstract: Apparatus is described for coating of three dimensional objects such as glass jars or bottles, during a continuous manufacturing process, by Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD). The objects pass through tunnel having one or more vertical arrays of nozzles located in the sidewalls. The nozzles deliver CVD precursors and, being independently variable, allow for variation of the precursor concentration along the height of the object. Thus, the thickness of the resultant coating may be so varied. Preferred embodiments include corresponding exhaust arrays, aligned with the nozzles and one or more air curtains which isolate the interior of the tunnel from the external environment.

  • Publication number: 20180223876
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a bladeless radiator cooling fan. In one example, a system may include a plurality of bladeless entrainment discs surrounded by a shroud, each bladeless entrainment disc including a hollow central opening that enables unrestricted ambient airflow through the cooling fan, and a source fan for providing airflow to the bladeless entrainment that is encased by a housing. In this way, airflow through the bladeless radiator cooling fan may be increased, decreasing powered fan usage and decreasing fan noise.

  • Publication number: 20170323282
Abstract: Methods and systems for exchanging various forms of value, including coins, currency, credit, debit, and/or bank account funds, for prepaid cash cards, credit cards, phone cards, and the like. In one embodiment, a value exchange machine includes a coin input region, a coin sorting/counting apparatus, a card reader, and a communications facility configured to communicate with a remote computer network. In another embodiment, a value exchange system includes one or more of the value exchange machines connected to one or more remote computers via a communications link. A user wishing to purchase, for example, a prepaid cash card can visit one of the value exchange machines, select the desired transaction, and pay for the card with coins, currency, a credit card, a debit card, and/or bank account funds. After confirming payment, the value exchange machine dispenses the card to the user.

  • Patent number: 9651327
Abstract: The invention comprises a device and various optional modifications to the lower receiver of a semiautomatic firearm whereby the firearm is at least semi-permanently rendered incapable of quickly removing and replacing a cartridge magazine. The device comprises a means to mechanically retain the magazine in the lower receiver of the firearm such that special tools and at least several minutes are required to remove and replace the magazine. The optional modifications comprise elimination of certain standard machined features which accept and allow the use of a magazine catch, magazine catch spring and magazine catch button; introduction of a hole or slot through the sidewall of the magazine well to accommodate a magazine retention fitting which holds the magazine in place; and the interruption of the lower portion of a clearance slot in the magazine well to prevent installation of a magazine from the bottom of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 9594982
Abstract: Systems and associated methods for optical coin discrimination are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for discriminating coins includes obtaining a digital image of a coin, identifying the outline of the coin using a suitable algorithm, and determining the diameter of the coin using the outline of the coin. The method of this embodiment further includes generating a rectangular image of the coin using, for example, a log-polar transform, generating a series of, for example, Fourier transforms from the rectangular image, and identifying spectral peak locations and intensities in the Fourier transform results. The diameter of the coin, spectral peak location, spectral peak intensity of the coin and/or other aspects of the coin can then be compared to known values for different coins to discriminate the coin.
