  • Publication number: 20100162219
Abstract: A compiler generated static analysis of potential aliasing violations in a portion of code that is not in the current program view of the analysis. Source code in a current program view of the program code is processed to collect symbol definitions. The possible destinations of each symbol definition are computed. The set of symbol definitions in the current program view of the code that are accessible to the portion of the program code outside the current program view is evaluated. Each symbol definition is diagnosed based on the type of the symbol defined and the symbols which may be pointed-to by the symbol definitions.

  • Publication number: 20100072384
Abstract: An electron beam scanner includes a stationary source producing an electron beam and a detector positioned to partially circumscribe a scan field, the detector divided into a pair of detector rings arranged adjacent to one another and separated by a gap extending at least partially about a circumference of the detector. The electron beam scanner also includes a target arranged concentric with the detector and located opposite the detector across the scan field, the target having end portions circumferentially overlapping the detector and radially aligned with the gap between the detector rings, such that when the electron beam impinges on the target the target transmits radiation through the gap across the scan field to an associated section of the detector.

  • Patent number: 7561454
Abstract: A ternary content addressable memory (CAM) cell is disclosed for providing reduced or minimized matchline (ML) capacitance and for increasing current between matchline and tail-line in the case of a mismatch. The speed of a CAM cell is generally inversely proportional to its ML capacitance, and proportional to the current. Conventional ternary CAM cells have many matchline transistors, each contributing to the matchline capacitance. Embodiments of the present invention have a single matchline transistor between a matchline and a ground line, or tail-line, of the CAM cell. The single matchline transistor couples the matchline to the tail-line in response to a discharge signal from a compare circuit. The compare circuit can be divided into a pull-up section for driving a gate voltage level control node and a discharge section for discharging the gate voltage level control node, the discharge signal being provided at the gate voltage level control node.

  • Publication number: 20090177432
Abstract: The invention is an optical method and apparatus for measuring the temperature of semiconductor substrates in real-time, during thin film growth and wafer processing. Utilizing the nearly linear dependence of the interband optical absorption edge on temperature, the present method and apparatus result in highly accurate measurement of the absorption edge in diffuse reflectance and transmission geometry, in real time, with sufficient accuracy and sensitivity to enable closed loop temperature control of wafers during film growth and processing. The apparatus operates across a wide range of temperatures covering all of the required range for common semiconductor substrates.

  • Patent number: 7537524
Abstract: The rotary motion created by a motor is transmitted from the drive shaft of the motor to the driven shaft through a pair of diametrically opposed balls fitted into a coupling mechanism attached to the drive shaft and through a pin fitted into holes formed in the opposed balls and through the driven shaft disposed between the opposed balls for eliminating vibration and noise. The thrust loads imposed in the structure supporting the motor is directed to bypass the motor through a bearing supporting the driven shaft through its housing and into the outer housing surrounding the motor. The motor is encased in a cartridge disposed in a central cavity of the outer housing and the cartridge is not rigidly attached to the outer housing so that the thrust loads bypass the motor.

  • Publication number: 20080301657
Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable program code for facilitating debugging of source code. A set of indirect memory references is identified in the source code and points-to records are generated for the source code. The set of indirect memory references are validated using the points-to records and an aliasing rule to identify zero or more indirect memory references having a potential aliasing problem. In a case in which the zero or more indirect memory references comprise at least one indirect memory reference, the at least one indirect memory reference is in the set of indirect memory references. Responsive to a determination that the zero or more indirect memory references comprise at least one indirect memory reference, a report is generated identifying at least one location in the source code associated with the at least one indirect memory reference. The report is stored.

  • Publication number: 20080173269
Abstract: A pressure management apparatus including a housing (30) defining a fluid communication passage between first and second fluid ports (46, 48). A poppet (40) is disposed in the housing and is movable between first and second positions. The first position prevents fluid communication between the first and second fluid ports, and the second position permits fluid communication between the first and second fluid ports. The poppet includes a portion (75) translatable along an axis relative to the housing. A member (78) is fixed with respect to the housing and is associated with the portion of the poppet. Spring structure (72) is associated with the portion of the poppet. The spring structure is constructed and arranged to engage and bias the portion of the poppet to frictionally engage a portion of the member to create a dashpot damping of resonance of the poppet in the second position.

  • Patent number: 7391523
Abstract: Apparatus for quantitatively measuring the curvature and/or relative tilt of large surfaces wherein a small array of parallel laser beams, each separated by a known distance, reflect from the surface of a sample and fall upon a feedback controlled front-surface steering mirror to a detector that measures both the change in separation of the reflected beams and the spatial translation of the entire array on the detector. The sample surface is translated beneath or in front of the fixed laser array by means of a computer controlled stage or other apparatus to create a 1-dimensional line scan or 2-dimensional map of both bow and relative tilt of the sample surface. A computer-driven, feedback-controlled steering mirror compensates for varying sample tilt by precisely realigning the reflected laser array onto the detector as the sample is translated.

  • Publication number: 20060195822
Abstract: Techniques and systems for debugging an electronic system having instrumentation circuitry included therein are disclosed. The techniques and systems facilitate analysis, diagnosis and debugging fabricated hardware designs at a Hardware Description Language (HDL) level. Although the hardware designs (which were designed in HDL) have been fabricated in integrated circuit products with limited input/output pins, the invention enables the hardware designs within the integrated circuit products to be comprehensively analyzed, diagnosed, and debugged at the HDL level at speed. The ability to debug hardware designs at the HDL level facilitates correction or adjustment of the HDL description of the hardware designs.

  • Publication number: 20060032338
Abstract: The invention is a tool that generally enables the application of force to a bolt end along the longitudinal axis of a bolt. In the embodiment described herein, the invention involves the servicing of automobile hub by providing a means for safely and effectively removing the hub stud bolts that have seized to the steering knuckle or other component to which it is mounted. The invention eliminates the realistic probability of damaging the hub stud bolts' threads, ensures that striking force can be applied without bending or breaking the hub stud bolts, and provides a surface suitable for applying a sufficient striking force to free a seized hub from a steering knuckle or other component to which it is mounted. The invention can be manufactured in a straightforward manner. In the disclosed embodiment, the invention provides for the safe and effective removal of a hub from a steering knuckle, through the use of the invention, that can reduce the labor time and material costs in hub servicing an automobile hub.
