  • Publication number: 20170049969
Abstract: An auto-injector for delivering a liquid medicament comprises: a collapsible container for containing the liquid medicament (26); an openable closure; and an elongate indication member (21) located at least partially within the rigid outer container (22) and arranged to move longitudinally towards the distal end of the collapsible container when the openable closure is opened, in which longitudinal movement of the elongate indication member (21) produces visual, and/or audio and/or tactile feedback relating to injection progress to a user of the auto-injector.

  • Publication number: 20170049970
Abstract: A needle safety shield assembly for an injector comprises: a needle shield (231) for shielding a needle of the injector; and a shield locking means comprising a track (233, 236) adapted to engage with a runner (224), the track comprising at least one unidirectional barrier (232, 237) through which the runner can pass; in which movement of the needle shield to expose the needle for use and to subsequently re-shield the needle causes movement of the runner (224) along the track (233, 236) through the at least one unidirectional barrier (232, 237) and into a locked position in which further movement of the runner and needle shield is prevented.

  • Patent number: 9352079
Abstract: This invention relates to a safety needle accessory sealed within a pack suitable for sealing pre-filled syringes. The safety needle accessory comprises a hub for surrounding a hollow needle having a tip and having a connector for attachment to a syringe, a slidable sleeve adapted to slide over the needle in a first longitudinal direction from a first position in which the needle is fully or partially covered by the sleeve to a second position in which the needle is exposed, and in a second longitudinal direction from the second position to a third position in which the needle is fully covered by the sleeve, and a pack surrounding the hollow needle, hub and slidable sleeve having a closed end covering the needle and an open end exposing the connector of the hub. The safety needle accessory further comprises a first seal attached to the connector of the hub and a second seal between the hub and the pack.

  • Patent number: 8827961
Abstract: A safety needle for automatically covering a tip of a needle following removal of the needle from a patient is provided. The safety needle includes an injection device and a packing sleeve. The injection device has an initial position and an intermediate position. The packing sleeve has a generally hollow body surrounding at least a portion of the injection device in the initial position and the intermediate position. The hollow body includes at least one track having an activation leg and a releasing leg. The at least one track is configured to slidingly engage with at least one member of the injection device to move the injection device to the intermediate position. The packing sleeve is removable from the injection device only when the injection device is in the intermediate position.

  • Patent number: 8597255
Abstract: A packing sleeve for use with a safety needle that automatically covers a tip of a needle following removal of the needle from a patient includes a generally hollow body having a longitudinal axis and a distal end and an open proximal end. The body surrounds at least a portion of the safety needle and has at least one track having an activation leg and a releasing leg. The at least one track is in sliding engagement with at least one member of the safety needle such that the motion of a portion of the safety needle relative to the body is dictated by a path the at least one member follows along the respective at least one track. The safety needle is in an initial position when the at least one member is proximate a first end of the activation leg and in an intermediate position when the at least one member is proximate a second end of the activation leg.

  • Patent number: 8282609
Abstract: This invention relates to an accessory for attaching to a needle to prevent needle stick injuries. The safety needle accessory is suitable for use with a hollow needle and comprises a needle hub surrounding the needle and a slidable sleeve slidably mounted on the needle hub. The slidable sleeve bears resiliently on the needle hub such that, in use, as the slidable sleeve is caused to move into a retracted position. A restoring force is generated within the slidable sleeve and on removal of the needle from the patient the restoring force causes the slidable sleeve to move into an extended position covering the needle tip. The safety needle locks in this position after removal of the needle from the patient.

  • Patent number: 8235950
Abstract: A safety needle pack to prevent needle stick injuries includes a hollow needle, a needle hub, a slidable sleeve mounted on the needle hub and a pack surrounding the needle, hub and sleeve. The slidable sleeve is adapted to slide between an extended position in which the injection end of the needle is located inside the slidable sleeve and a retracted position in which the injection end of the needle projects from the slidable sleeve. The pack is releasably mounted on the needle hub and slidable sleeve such that the injection end of the pack covers the tip of needle.

  • Publication number: 20080200881
Abstract: This invention relates to a safety needle pack to prevent needle stick injuries. The safety needle pack comprises a hollow needle, a needle hub surrounding the hollow needle, a slidable sleeve slidably mounted on the needle hub and a pack surrounding the needle, hub and sleeve. The slidable sleeve is adapted to slide between an extended position in which the injection end of the needle is located inside the slidable sleeve and a retracted position in which the injection end of the needle projects from the slidable sleeve, via an intermediate position between the extended position and the retracted position in which the injection end of the needle projects partially from the slidable sleeve. The pack is releasably mounted on the needle hub and slidable sleeve such that the injection end of the pack covers the tip of needle. By causing the pack to be moved towards the syringe, the pack retracts the slidable sleeve from the extended position to the intermediate position.
