  • Publication number: 20250251715
Abstract: A method includes generating, via a containerized control application executing in a container running on computing infrastructure, a command that defines at least one characteristic of an operation of an industrial automation device in performance of an industrial automation process, transmitting the command from the containerized control application to an input/output (I/O) proxy, wherein the I/O proxy is configured to interface between the containerized control application and a physical I/O, transmitting the command from the I/O proxy to the physical I/O, wherein the physical I/O is configured to receive data from the industrial automation device and provide commands to the industrial automation device, transmitting the command from the physical I/O to the industrial automation device, and implementing, via the industrial automation device, the command.

  • Publication number: 20240264832
Abstract: An industrial integrated development environment (IDE) allows project topologies to be defined using an industrial domain-specific language (DSL) script. DSL scripting language can be used to define a control system topology in terms of the devices that make up the control system as well as the data connections between those devices. The IDE system can translate resulting topology to a project tree that serves as the basis for a control system project.

  • Patent number: 9703277
Abstract: A method and apparatus for tracking changes in an industrial controller is disclosed. A project for the industrial controller is developed that includes multiple components. Each of the components may be arranged at varying levels. Authorized personnel are able to access the components, or a portion thereof, within the industrial controller to change settings and or programming of the industrial controller. As each change is made, the industrial controller maintains a log of the changes. The change may initially be recorded in each module and/or at each level of the project. The change is then rolled up to a top level of the project. A revision log at the top level of the project stores each of the changes within the industrial controller. The industrial controller may then access the revision log to determine whether any action needs to be taken within the industrial controller.

  • Patent number: 8942834
Abstract: An industrial control system includes an industrial controller and a programming interface. The programming interface is operable to communicate a plurality of operations for modifying a control program maintained by the industrial controller followed by a commit transaction command. The industrial controller is configured to designate the plurality of operations with a pending status and preprocess the plurality of operations. The industrial controller is further configured to commit the operations and clear the pending status responsive to receiving the commit transaction command.

  • Patent number: 6088624
Abstract: An improvement in an industrial controller having a processor with a memory holding an I/O table used for storing inputs and outputs transmitted between the industrial controller and a controlled process, via multiple I/O devices, uses templates associated with each I/O device to define the partitioning of the I/O table for the data. The templates define data types and ordering of data required for the particular I/O device permitting the space in the I/O table to be efficiently and intuitively allocated. The templates also relate physical addresses in the I/O table to program variables used by the control program.
