  • Publication number: 20120310879
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product for data synchronization between a first file system and a second file system. File systems may be associated with handheld devices, memory devices, local or networked computer memory, or the like. Interaction with the first and second file systems follow first and second syntaxes, respectively. At least one file system is identified, for example based on a file path prefix thereof. One or more translation modules are selected based on the identification, each translation module configured to translate between a file system syntax and a generic syntax. Appropriate aspects of a set of operations for performing the data synchronization are translated using appropriate translation modules.

  • Publication number: 20110138078
Abstract: A method for compressing photos for devices may include selecting one or more media items to sync with a mobile electronic device. Profile information of a mobile electronic device may be retrieved, wherein the profile information includes a resolution of a display of the mobile electronic device, available space on the mobile electronic device, and a size of support files stored on the mobile electronic device. An amount of space used on the mobile electronic device after a synchronization of the one or more media items is completed may be estimated. Also, a visual representation of the amount of spaced used may be presented on a display device.

  • Publication number: 20010037311
Abstract: The invention provides a distributed architecture where each portion of published content may be divided into numerous (i.e., hundreds or thousands) of small fragments, and scattered amongst the peer systems in the network. Retrieval of data may be accomplished by downloading the contents in parallel, locating a replica of an original fragment if a particular peer system serving the original fragment becomes overloaded or disconnected from the network. This architecture allows the invention to take advantage of the asymmetric nature of most user connections to the Internet by utilizing a collection of small agent applications (agents) running in parallel to deliver content rapidly across the network. The distributed load balancing system used by the invention functions as an agoric resource allocation system, with agents trading favors with a bartering network.
