  • Publication number: 20030054895
Abstract: A putting practice and game apparatus is disclosed, which is a simple, cost effective device, which may be portable and is easily constructed for use. The apparatus includes a golf ball backstop, putting post and diskplate attached in a single unit. The golf ball backstop partially encloses an opposing side of a target and is used to stop, corral and retain golf balls in a single location that are putted at the target.

  • Patent number: 6418327
Abstract: Methods for determining an optimum sector distribution within a coverage area of a wireless communication system are disclosed. A coverage area is divided into a number of sectors, each sector having a respective sector width. The wireless communication system emits a respective radiation pattern designated for each sector. The methods of the invention evaluate the interference in a given sector due to both neighboring radiation pattern main lobes and sidelobes from all other sectors within the coverage area using the same frequency channels. According to the methods of the invention, a sector width and/or radiation pattern may be determined which minimizes the interference, or undesired signal level, while maintaining a sufficiently uniform distribution of the desired signal level in each sector. The various embodiments of methods according to the invention may be implemented using software, for example, in the form of a simulation program.

  • Publication number: 20020068612
Abstract: Wireless communication systems employing a sectored coverage area, and methods for determining a sector distribution within the coverage area. In one example, a wireless communication system emits radiation patterns in a sectored coverage area divided into at least two sectors. A first radiation pattern is designated substantially for a first sector, and one or more other radiation patterns are designated substantially for one or more other sectors. The sector distribution is based at least in part on a first desired signal level in the first sector due to the first radiation pattern and a first undesired interference level in the first sector due to the one or more other radiation patterns. In another example, the sector distribution is selected so as to maximize a ratio of the first desired signal level and the first undesired interference level. In another example, desired and undesired signal levels in other sectors are considered.
