  • Patent number: 8169104
Abstract: A control system for a battery powered vehicle of the kind which is provided with an electric power source and at least one switch means, such as a contactor, which is operable to connect the output of the power source to a high power electrical item fitted to the vehicle, such as an electric drive motor, in which the control system is operable to set the vehicle in one of at least 3 different operating modes comprising a first mode in which the vehicle is immobilized and the contactor is held in an open position to isolate the battery from the electrical item, a second mode in which the vehicle is not immobilized and the contactor is held in a closed position to connect the battery to the electrical item, and a third mode in which the vehicle is immobilized but the contactor remains in an closed position to connect the battery to the electrical item.

  • Patent number: 6351394
Abstract: A conductive frame (10) comprises an upper wall (12) and side walls (14, 16) depending downwardly therefrom, the upper wall having an elongated opening (32) adjacent a front end thereof, board-mounting members (20, 22) extend outwardly from bottom surfaces of the side walls (14, 16) for mounting the frame onto a circuit board (28), a closure door (44) is positioned across the conductive frame including pivot members (46, 48) thereon disposed in pivot-receiving members (50) of the conductive frame so that the closure door can be moved from a closed position to an open position when an electronic module is positioned within the conductive frame, and a spring member (52) is mounted on the closure door and the conductive frame thereby maintaining the closure door in the closed position.

  • Patent number: 6030242
Abstract: A connector assembly 20 including a housing 26 adapted for mounting to a panel 30 through a cutout 31 in the panel 30. The housing 26 is adapted for sliding engagement with the panel 30 when installed in the cutout 31. A centering mechanism 29 is coupled to the housing 26 and serves to substantially vertically center the housing 26 in the cutout 31 when the connector 20 is unmated with a complementary connector.

  • Patent number: 6010354
Abstract: A connector includes a housing assembly, a backshell and a latch. The housing assembly includes a plurality of contacts having IDC sections for connection to a plurality of discrete electrical conductors. The backshell engages the housing assembly and includes a retention row for urging the discrete electrical conductors into electrical contact with the IDC sections. The backshell grips a cable holding the discrete electrical conductors to provide a strain relief and provides an interior cavity suitable for splaying the discrete electrical conductors to the plurality of IDC sections. The latch is coupled to the housing assembly and is adapted for engagement with a mating connector to retain the housing assembly in engagement with the mating connector.

  • Patent number: 5895306
Abstract: A toy construction kit, particularly a three-dimensional puzzle, including a plurality of generally regular polygonal construction elements that can be releasably assembled, through tab-and-slot, hinged interengagement, to form a toy construction. Each of the construction elements is formed from a resiliently flexible sheet of plastics material, for example, polypropylene. A single toy construction may include construction elements in regular polygonal shapes of triangles, squares, and pentagons with all of the sides of the elements having, the same length. The tab-receiving slots of the tab-and-slot engagement may be provided in flanges formed integrally with and projecting from the sides of the construction elements.

  • Patent number: 5750973
Abstract: A card reader 20 includes a dielectric housing 22, a plurality of resilient connector elements 70 disposed along the bottom wall 28 of the housing 22 and adapted to establish electrical connection between contact pads 104 of a circuit board 102 and contact pads 96 of a card 90 inserted into a card-receiving slot 40 of the reader 20, a horizontal plate 42 slidably mounted within the housing 22, and an actuator 54 for moving the plate 42. The horizontal plate 42 is proximate the top surface of the housing 22 and is movable upon actuation toward a card 90 inserted into the card receiving slot 40 beneath the plate 42 to exert pressure on and moving the card 90 toward said bottom wall 28 to effect electrical engagement between the contact pads 96 of the card 90 and the resilient connector elements 70 that, in turn, engage the contact pads 104 of the board 102.
