  • Patent number: 4955676
Abstract: A refrigerator has upper and lower compartments each closed by separate doors mounted on the cabinet and separated from each other by a partition. At the front of the partition is a mullion assembly including a mullion cover arranged flush with the front face of the cabinet and behind the mullion cover is a mullion strap having end portions at each end projecting beyond the mullion cover behind the front face of the cabinet where screws clamp the mullion strap ends to the rear of the front face of the cabinet to provide a brace between the two sides of the cabinet and another set of screws secure the mullion cover to the mullion strap adjacent each end. The mullion strap has a flat center section for flexibility during assembly, while each end portion is in the form of a forward opening channel which forms a box construction with the mullion cover.

  • Patent number: 4920696
Abstract: A refrigerated cabinet assembly has an open compressor compartment at the lower rear side thereof and the compartment is defined by the side walls of the cabinet and an insulation bottom support having a vertically extending wall portion. The refrigeration compressor is secured to a mounting plate which at one side is secured to a transverse rail extending between the two wall portions, while the mounting plate on the side opposite said rail has a projecting tongue received in an elastomeric bushing mounted in an opening on said vertically extending wall portion, with the bushing extending into and being surrounded by the rigid insulating foam.

  • Patent number: 4914341
Abstract: A refrigerator cabinet has a metal outer shell with a one-piece, thermoplastic inner liner having a peripheral flange received in a groove formed in the outer shell. Foamed-in-place insulation is used between the liner and the shell and the cabinet has a partition separating the interior of the liner into an upper freezer and lower fresh food compartment. The partition is supported by inwardly projecting ribs formed integrally with the liner extending around the back and two sides and terminating adjacent the peripheral flange. The peripheral flange in the area of the partition has an offset portion extending away from the front face, forming a curved portion which cooperates with the projecting ribs in providing vertical compliance of the liner during thermal expansion and contraction to reduce the possibility of stress cracking.

  • Patent number: 4783879
Abstract: A supporting roller assembly for a household appliance includes a fixed rear roller and a height-adjustable front roller. The front roller has a frame for mounting against a flat surface on the underside of the appliance, together with a vertically extending front wall at the front of the appliance mounting the head of an adjustment screw. The roller is carried on a roller carrier which is pivotally mounted on the frame member and carries a captive nut engaging the screw so that rotation of the screw causes the roller carrier to rotate about its pivotal engagement to raise and lower the front end of the appliance. The fixed rear roller assembly has a frame which snaps into an opening in a bottom wall of the appliance. The bottom wall has upwardly projecting flanges which overlay a press-in axle carried by the roller frame and journaling the roller and the flanges prevent any lengthwise movement of the axle which would cause it to disengage from the ears on the frame.

  • Patent number: 4488412
Abstract: A meat keeper compartment includes an adjustable air duct assembly which supplies cold air flow from the evaporator compartment of a top freezer type refrigerator into a meat keeper receptacle slidably mounted on a shelf which may be positioned at different levels or on different sides of the fresh food compartment of the refrigerator. The air duct assembly consists of an air deflector which receives cold air from the freezer through a slot in the partition between the freezer and fresh food compartment, a cold air outlet to deliver cold air into the meat keeper receptacle, an upper air duct having the back wall of the refrigerator form the back wall of the duct, a lower air duct which telescopes with the upper air duct for adjustment of the cold air outlet, and an adjustable air damper for regulation of the amount of cold air flow.
