Abstract: Methods of reducing skin irritation induced by a surfactant are described that comprise contacting skin with a detergent comprising at least one surfactant and at least one botanical extract, wherein the at least one botanical extract at least partially counteracts irritation induced by the at least one surfactant.

Abstract: Cleansing compositions are described that comprise at least one surfactant, at least one extract of a Lamiaceae family plant, and at least one extract of a Liliaceae family plant. The at least one extract of the Lamiaceae family plant and the at least one extract of the Liliaceae family plant are present in effective amounts to at least partially counteract skin irritation induced by the at least one surfactant. Methods of reducing skin irritation induced by a surfactant comprise contacting skin with a detergent comprising at least one surfactant, at least one extract of a Lamiaceae family plant, and at least one extract of a Liliaceae family plant, wherein the at least one extract of the Lamiaceae family plant, and the at least one extract of the Liliaceae family plant at least partially counteract irritation induced by the at least one surfactant.
