  • Publication number: 20100194519
Abstract: A fuse for a high voltage/high current application, such as a hydro-electric vehicle (“HEV”) application is provided. The fuse employs a variety of arc quenching features to handle a large amount of arcing energy that is generated When such fuse is opened due to a fuse opening event. In one embodiment, an insulative substrate, such as a melamine substrate, is metalized with a fuse element. The fuse element extends to multiple surfaces of the substrate. A fuse opening portion of the element is located so that the arcing energy is forced to travel along multiple insulative planes, increasing an impedance across the opening of the element and decreasing the likelihood of a sustained arc. Also, the substrate and element are disposed in a sealed housing, which is packed in one embodiment with an arc quenching material, such as sand.

  • Publication number: 20100114740
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to methods, systems, devices and computer-readable media. In embodiments of the invention, a user is authenticated using an authentication process that is capable of authenticating a user using an inline authentication form that can authenticate a consumer without transferring a session maintained by a merchant. The inline authentication form is used if the components of the authentication system are capable of supporting an inline authentication form. If the components of the system cannot support an inline authentication form, a different authentication process is used. In one embodiment, an inline authentication form is presented to the user asynchronously. This inline authentication form may be presented within an iFrame embedded in a merchant's checkout page after verifying that the components to be used during the authentication can support the inline authentication form.

  • Publication number: 20100036236
Abstract: A base unit operable with a wireless patient monitoring unit used to acquire physiological data during an MRI examination is constructed to have a detachable display unit. The detachable display unit wirelessly communicates with the base unit when in a roving mode. The detachable display unit may also have a magnetically-hardened power supply that does not saturate during an MRI examination. Such a magnetically-hardened power supply allows the display unit to operate when proximate or in the magnetic field generated by an MRI machine during an MRI examination.

  • Patent number: 7362777
Abstract: A multiplexed frame based client signal comprising a payload and a client overhead is transported between first and second client networks over a plurality of signal paths by inverse multiplexing the client signal into a plurality of lower rate signals each containing a respective payload and client overhead; attaching a carrier overhead to each said lower rate signal; transmitting the lower rate signals over the plurality of paths from the first client network to the second client network; and, at the second network, discarding the carrier overhead from each lower rate signal, and reassembling the lower rate signals so as to recover the client signal. The method enables bandwidth trading utilising virtual concatenation of synchronous optical channels, such that transparent transmission of a customers signals over any variety of intermediate networks can be achieved without requiring that the intermediate networks support virtual concatenation.

  • Publication number: 20070192245
Abstract: The invention comprises online methods, systems, and software for improving the processing of payments from financial accounts, particularly credit and debit card payments made from consumers to merchants in online transactions. The preferred embodiment of the invention involves inserting a trusted third party online service into the payment authorization process. The trusted third party authenticates the consumer and authorizes the proposed payment in a single integrated process conducted without the involvement of the merchant. The authentication of the consumer is accomplished over a persistent communication channel established with the consumer before a purchase is made. The authentication is done by verifying that the persistent channel is open when authorization is requested.

  • Publication number: 20070187633
Abstract: An improvement in a PVT apparatus, which improvement includes a fluid path model having a fluid path and a sampling section, wherein the depth of the fluid path within the sampling section is substantially uniform and is less than about 100 ?m. The apparatus may be configured to provide a micron-scale slim tube which may be used in a manner similar to a conventional slim tube apparatus. A method for characterizing an interfacial property of a dispersion such as, for example, miscibility of a first fluid and a second fluid as a function of pressure. The method includes collecting sets of transmittance images representing transmittance of electromagnetic radiation through the dispersion, generating values of a general interfacial property factor from the transmittance images, and characterizing the interfacial property using the values of the general interfacial property factor.

  • Publication number: 20070134804
Abstract: A method for analyzing a dispersion such as an oil/solid suspension or an oil/water emulsion. A set of original domain data is collected relating to an attribute of the dispersion, such as light transmittance therethrough. The set of original domain data is then transformed into a transformed set of original domain data which is in the frequency domain. Any transformation technique, such as a fast Fourier transform, may be used to transform the original domain data from a first domain, such as a time or spatial domain, into the frequency domain. The dispersion is then characterized using the transformed set of original domain data. One or more frequency domain spectra may be generated from the transformed set of original domain data, which frequency domain spectra express a parameter relating to the attribute of the dispersion as a function of frequency, in which case the characterizing step may be performed using the frequency domain spectra.

  • Publication number: 20070037552
Abstract: A method and system for performing a secure transaction are disclosed. A service provider system may receive an account identifier and a one-time passcode from a user system via a communication network. The service provider system may determine whether the one-time passcode is valid. If the one-time passcode is valid, the service provider system may transmit a personal assurance message to the user system via the communication network. If the personal assurance message is verified, the service provider may receive a password from the user system via the communication network and determine whether the password is valid. If the password is valid, the user system and the service provider system may then perform a secure transaction.
