  • Patent number: 5779101
Abstract: A portable container carrier for housing aerosol containers and other articles having disposed on one end portion thereof an actuatable or removable cap. The portable carrier includes generally a housing member having a first cover member slidably coupled to a first end portion of the housing member, and a second cover member slidably coupled to a second end portion of the housing member. The cover members are movable relative to the housing member between an opened position and a closed position, wherein the aerosol container caps are enclosed within the carrier by the cover members in the closed position, and wherein the aerosol container caps protrude through apertures of the cover members in the opened position so that the containers are accessible without having to detachably remove the cover members from the housing member, and the containers are accessible and useable without having to remove the containers from the carrier.

  • Patent number: 5685443
Abstract: A closure for press-on application to, and rotational removal from, a container having a cylindrical neck which includes a plurality of vertically spaced helical threads formed on the outer surface thereof. The closure includes an end panel member having a central portion formed of metal or other suitable oxygen barrier material which is adapted to overlie a mouth of the container. A generally cylindrical plastic skirt on the closure is formed by molding the same in surrounding and capturing relation to the end panel and at least a portion of the upper and lower surfaces of the end panel are generally free of plastic. The closure also includes a gasket which is engageable with the neck portion of the container to provide a seal therewith. A free edge on the outer periphery of the end panel member is encapsulated by at least one of said gasket and said molded plastic skirt.

  • Patent number: 4981230
Abstract: This relates to an improved tamper band construction for use in conjunction with closure caps for locking beneath a retaining bead on a container neck finish when the closure cap is removed to indicate rotation of the closure cap. The tamper indicating band is provided with a plurality of flaps which are initially molded in a radially inwardly, axial downwardly directed position and then are folded upwardly to radially inwardly and axially upwardly directed positions where they are engagable beneath a container retaining bead. Most particularly, the plurality of flaps are joined in groups by connecting bridges so that each group of flaps pivot as a unit with the connecting bridges stretching and providing an over center snapping action to retain the flaps in their operative positions after they are folded to such positions.

  • Patent number: 4895266
Abstract: This relates to a tamper indicating band which is carried by a plastic closure to indicate that the plastic closure has at least in part been unscrewed with respect to an associated container. It is proposed that the tamper indicating band be directly connected to the closure skirt by way of bridges with the bridges having rupturable connections with the skirt and hinge connections with the tamper indicating band. Thus the tamper indicating band may be folded from its as molded state depending from the skirt to a position projecting upwardly into the lower part of the skirt. When the closure is applied to a conventional type of container, the tamper indicating band locks beneath a locking bead on the container neck finish and when the closure is unthreaded, the engagement of the tamper indicating band with the bead will prevent the tamper indicating band to move upwardly with the closure.

  • Patent number: 4813562
Abstract: A plastic closure cap for containers wherein the closure cap is threadedly engaged on the container neck finish and has a tamper indicating band which is locked beneath a transfer bead on the container neck finish. The tamper indicating band is simply in the form of a plurality of segments which extend between circumferentially spaced bridges and which normally are curved radially inwardly. The tamper indicating band segments, however, will deflect radially outwardly and change shape so as to freely pass over the transfer bead as the closure cap is being applied to the container neck finish. After the tamper indicating band segments pass beyond the transfer bead, the segments snap back to their original positions due to tension and are locked beneath the transfer bead.

  • Patent number: 4813560
Abstract: This relates to a dispensing cap including a cap body and a cover which are connected together by suitable hinges so that the cover may swing between a fully open position and a fully closed position. In association with the hinges, there is a strap which connects a bendable wall portion of the cover to the cap body. The strap, in the open position of the cover, is located on one side of hinge centers and as the cover is swung towards a closed position, the strap passes through an overcenter position where a greater length of strap is required, thus effecting bending of the cover wall portion between the hinges to provide a spring effect. In the closed position of the cover, the strap is on the other side of the hinge center and bending of the cover wall portion is held to a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4805791
Abstract: This relates to a tamper-evident closure cap having a tamper-evident structure for locking engagement beneath a transfer bead of a container neck finish. The closure cap includes a customary tamper-evident band which is of a diameter to freely pass over both external threads and a transfer bead of a container neck finish. In order that a bridge rupturing pressure may be applied to the tamper-evident band, there is provided a separate lock ring of a size to engage beneath the transfer bead while having an outer portion overlying the tamper-evident band to transfer pressure thereto during the removal of the closure cap. The lock ring is radially expansible to freely pass down over the threads and transfer beads during the application of the closure cap.

  • Patent number: 4801029
Abstract: This relates to a tamper indicating cap which includes a conventional closure of the threaded type. The closure is provided with an injection molded member which includes an inner ring that overlies and is bonded to an end panel of the conventional closure and an outer ring which is telescoped over and extends beyond a skirt of the conventional closure. The inner ring is joined to the outer ring by a first set of breakable bridges and a second set of bridges in the form of diagonal links. When the outer ring is turned in a cap removing direction, the two rings move relative to one another sufficiently to cause rupture of the first set of ribs to indicate tampering. The diagonal links then transmit cap removal torque to the center ring and from the center ring to the shell of the conventional closure.

  • Patent number: 4796770
Abstract: An injection molded plastic closure having a tamper indicating portion. The tamper indicating portion includes a tampering indicating band which is attached to the skirt for radially outward hinging by a plurality of bridges. The tamper indicating band is subject to splitting whereby it may expand outwardly and clear a container neck finish. The tamper indicating band remains attached to the closure and the splitting thereof indicates tampering. Bridges attaching the tamper indicating band to the closure skirt are of sufficient cross section to have the required structural strength to prevent separation of the tamper indicating band from the closure skirt and at the same time permit injected molten plastic to freely flow from the closure skirt into the tamper indicating band.
