  • Patent number: 10177369
Abstract: A process and apparatus for continuously mixing and applying paste to battery grids for use in lead-acid battery systems, in which particulate lead oxide, water and sulphuric acid are reacted in an elongated mixer having a mixing to conveying ratio of about 65:35 to 80:20 with controlled reaction temperature for an exit product temperature in the range of above 60° C. to about 80° C. Additives including reinforcing fibers can be added in an amount up to 0.6 wt % of the lead oxide and carbon and graphite powder can be added in an amount up to 6 wt % of the lead oxide.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 20, 2007
Date of Patent: January 8, 2019
    Assignee: MITEK HOLDINGS, INC.
Inventors: Albert M. Vincze, Douglas G. Clark, Victor Nasri Saleh, Malcolm John Dewar, Robert W. Fritts
  • Patent number: 7431454
Abstract: The invention provides methods for designing patterns for use in tinted contact lenses in which the patterns are generated using algorithms. The method of the invention provides an objective description of the pattern for purposes of tooling, metrology and manufacturing of a lens incorporating the pattern.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2006
Date of Patent: October 7, 2008
Assignee: Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
Inventors: Gregory J. Hofmann, Douglas G. Clark
  • Patent number: 7226163
Abstract: The invention provides a method for designing tinted contact lenses that permits the computer-assisted modeling of a tinted lens on-eye. The method of the invention provides a substantially accurate prediction as to the appearance of the lens on-eye and reduces the number of designs that must be clinically tested and the number of iterations that each design must go through.

  • Patent number: 6797403
Abstract: A method of producing lead alloy strip for fabrication of positive and negative electrodes of a lead-acid battery by extruding a lead alloy at elevated temperature to produce a lead alloy strip having a desired profile and rapidly cooling the extruded strip to acquire a desired microstructure. Battery grids produced from the lead alloy strip have reduced vertical growth and enhanced resistance to corrosion.

  • Publication number: 20040119939
Abstract: The invention provides tinted contact lenses that provide a more natural appearing iris than by using colorant layers of varying thicknesses.

  • Publication number: 20030227596
Abstract: The invention provides tinted contact lenses, and methods for their manufacture, that incorporate a mark to indicate that the lens is a diagnostic lens. The mark can be provided on a lens without interfering with the lens wearer's ability to assess the on-eye appearance of the lens. Additionally, the mark may be provided on the lens using pad printing technology.

  • Publication number: 20020080327
Abstract: The invention provides tinted contact lenses, and methods for their manufacture, that alter the natural color of the lens wearer's iris. The lenses use a base layer of translucent color having a clear central zone and a translucent color zone in combination with one or more layers of translucent color, one or more layers of opaque color, or a combination thereof, each of which additional zones has a clear central zone and a zone of color.
