  • Patent number: 6412113
Abstract: A ball glove includes an outer shell which is formed from textile or fabric reinforced compression molded rubber. The rubber extends into mesh openings in the textile and is mechanically integrated with the textile. The textile strengthens the rubber and reduces the possibility that the rubber will tear at holes for stitches or laces.

Inventors: Douglas G. Guenther, James A. Hansen
  • Patent number: 6413177
Abstract: A game ball includes an inflatable bladder and a floating cover which can move relative to the bladder. The bladder is surrounded by a cloth liner which serves to retain the shape of the bladder. A second bladder or layer of elastomeric material surrounds the cloth liner and is movable relative to the cloth liner. A second cloth liner surrounds the second bladder, and the cover is adhesively attached to the second cloth liner.

  • Patent number: 6123633
Abstract: A game ball including a carcass and a plurality of thin cover panels which have a substantially uniform thickness. The carcass is shaped so that the outer surface of the ball has a plurality of lobes even though the cover has a uniform thickness. The carcass has an outer surface which includes a plurality of generally spherical portions, channels between adjacent spherical portions, and recessed surface portions between each channel and the adjacent spherical portions.

  • Patent number: 6024661
Abstract: A sweat-absorbing game ball comprises an inflatable rubber bladder and a synthetic leather cover which surrounds the bladder. The synthetic leather cover includes a base fabric of polyurethane-impregnated nonwoven nylon fibers and an outer coating of wet-coagulated polyurethane. A pebbled surface configuration is molded into the outer surface of the cover, and the pebbled surface includes a plurality of outwardly projecting pebbles. Each pebble includes an outer surface and a side surface, and a plurality of small openings are formed in the polyurethane outer coating on the side surfaces of the pebbles.

  • Patent number: 5931752
Abstract: A game ball comprises an inflatable carcass, panels of cover material secured to the carcass so that portions of the carcass are not covered with cover material, and pieces of material having good grippability which are secured to the portions of the carcass which are not covered by the cover material. The laid-in material can form channels or a logo on the ball.

  • Patent number: 5888157
Abstract: A football includes an elongated bladder and a plurality of longitudinally extending rubber strips which are secured to the bladder. Each of the rubber strips has a longitudinally extending groove. A plurality of cover panels surround the bladder and the rubber strips. Each of the cover panels has a pair of longitudinally extending tapered edges which extend into grooves in the rubber strips and which abut against edges of adjacent cover panels.

  • Patent number: 5681233
Abstract: A game ball comprises an inflatable rubber bladder, a layer of windings over the bladder, panels of sponge rubber over the wound bladder, rubber channels between adjacent panels of sponge rubber, and panels of cover material over the panels of sponge rubber. Before the panels of cover material are applied, the bladder, sponge rubber, and channels are cured in a heated mold to bond the rubber channels and the sponge rubber to the wound bladder. After the panels of cover material are applied, the ball is heat molded to bond the cover material to the rubber channels and the sponge rubber.

  • Patent number: 5135447
Abstract: A step type exercise apparatus is disclosed in which two pedal members are connected for reciprocating movement by a chain which, in turn, operates through a transmission providing a resistive force to the pedals. The resistive force is supplied by an alternator which is controlled by a computer. Means are provided to lubricate the chain thereby prolonging the life of the chain.
