    Abstract: A chain link is disclosed. The link is composed of two abutting link parts, one of which has an end which is slidably received within a correspondingly shaped end of the other link part, and a connector, preferably a retaining snap ring. The ring is received in cooperating grooves in, and locks, the two link parts in their abutting positions. The grooves, the ring, and the link parts are so shaped and positioned that, when the ring is received within the grooves, the link parts constitute a complete link of a desired configurations, and are securely locked to one another by the ring. The link parts may initially be separate and have second ends corresponding with the first ends. Alternatively, the free ends of the link parts may be connected to or integral with a link body which connects them. At least a portion of the link body is flexible or malleable.

    Abstract: A split clevis which is especially suited for suspending heat transfer chain from hangers in rotary kilns is disclosed. The clevis comprises first and second arms and an opening is provided at one end of each arm for receiving an end link of a chain. In a chain assembly including the clevis, the end link connects the rest of the links in the chain to the first and second arms. A support shaft is provided on the first arm. The support shaft has a first portion, adjacent to the second end of the first arm to which it is attached. The first portion of the support shaft is received in the hanger aperture. A second, end portion of the support shaft has a reduced diameter and there is a shoulder between the first and second portions of the support shaft. An aperture is provided in the second arm for receiving the second, end portion of the support shaft.

    Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for securing a two component lining to the inside shell of a rotary kiln or the like. The apparatus includes a plurality of standoffs each having a bottom portion for connection to the inside shell of the kiln, a middle portion, and a top portion. A grid is connected to each of the top portions by means of a weld. A layer of a lightweight first castable material having high insulative properties is gunned or cast along the inside shell of the kiln to a depth less than the height of the standoffs. A second castable material having abrasion resistive properties is gunned or cast onto the surface of the first castable material at a depth substantially level with the surface of the grid. The standoffs serve as an anchor to secure the two layers of castible material into position . The grid connected to the top portion of the standoffs is preferably a honeycomb grid which aids the second castable material in protecting the first castable material from damage due to abrasion.
